Caroline Wozniacki: Top Seed Wozniacki, Serena Williams Eliminated in 4th Round

Caroline Wozniacki, Serena Williams Fall Short of the Quarterfinals at Wimbledon

Caroline Wozniacki and Serena Williams have both been eliminated before reaching the quarterfinals. Wozniacki was the top seed in the tournament, while Williams was the trying to defend her back-to-back Wimbledon championships.

Wozniacki was defeated by 24 seed Dominika Cibulkova 1-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 in a shocking upset, while Williams was taken out by Marion Bartoli 6-3, 7-6 (6).

With no top seed to watch for and the defending champion out of the running, the tournament has been blown wide open.

No. 4 seed Victoria Azarenka and No. 5 seed Maria Sharapova are the top two seeds remaining in the tournament at this point.

The women’s side of the bracket has been jam-packed with upsets. It is unclear at this point who the clear-cut winner is, and the dethroning of Williams and elimination of the top three seeds in the tournament prove noone is invincible.
