films.nfb.ca Murray Siple’s feature-length documentary follows a group of homeless men who have combined bottle picking with the extreme sport of racing shopping carts down the steep hills of North Vancouver. This subculture depicts street life as much more than the stereotypes portrayed in mainstream media. The film takes a deep look into the lives of the men who race carts, the adversity they face and the appeal of cart racing despite the risk. Shot in high-definition and featuring tracks from Black Mountain, Ladyhawk, Vetiver, Bison, and Alan Boyd of Little Sparta.

This documentary was really AMAZING!!! Worth ever minute!
@Vimat15 was thinking about that too
completely amazing, one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen
@Varmperonsplitt now there’s one dislike :/
Cool, they help people recycle and save the enviroment.
It’s nice to know there are people so passionate about what they do even thought it might not be seen as something very important.
amazing ive watched this documentry three times now and its stil fresh i love it
I was shocked and amazed. I sat in my seat trembling for five minutes after watching it.
The homeless face many stigmas. This film suggests that some however, manage to adapt to their environments and express themselves creatively through their survival strategies, which can be dignified. The shopping cart as a symbol of mass consumption, the supposed culmination of production and labour, is turned on its head into a vehicle for minimalist survival.
the one who dislike is an assh0l3
Im not sure if Murray was thinking of brilliant when he made this film, but thats what he got. The second time I watched this i noticed the subtle things he put in, like the 2 times he showed the spider and its web, while they were drinking. And the broken bottle begin crashed up against the beach by the waves.
Ive recomended this movie to everyone to watch as something they all MUST see
That was really cool. Besides the breathtaking personal dramas, I really wanna try the carting. Extraordinary Movie!
excellent! thats all i can say.
im glad i got to watch this documentary. The people in the film were great, i wonder very much where they are in life today. It would be awsome if the creator could make another one, like 10 years later showing that they are still rocking the carts!
awesome
next time i se a beggar i wont have the same thouts about them as i had before i saw this amazing documentary. Good luck to you all !.
