Andrew Bogut Could See Himself Playing For Celtics But Not This Year

Share this: Andrew Bogut might have spurned the Boston Celtics by committing to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, but the 12-year NBA veteran hopes that the C’s will try again when he hits the free agent market this summer. According to The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, the Celtics made a very strong impression on Bogut, especially head coach Brad Stevens and general manager Danny Ainge. And, according to Himmelsbach, the Australian big man could see himself suiting up for the Celtics next season. “I just want to want to stress how close it was, because Brad and Danny did a hell of a job with this thing,” Bogut’s agent David Bauman told Himmelsbach. “Andrew got to know Brad and Danny a

NHL Trade Deadline: Leafs Should Make Minor Move Only, Protect Future

Share this: The Toronto Maple Leafs’ path toward the Stanley Cup might be a little ahead of schedule, but that doesn’t mean Brendan Shanahan and Co. should mortgage any part of the team’s future to win right now. Sure, making the playoffs and earning that experience would be nice, but the Leafs must stay the course in what has been a successful rebuild thus far. Auston Matthews, the 2016 No. 1 overall draft pick, is on his way to the Calder Trophy with a rookie-leading 30 goals. Mitch Marner, the fourth overall pick in 2015, is having a fantastic rookie campaign, too. Former first-round picks Morgan Rielly and Jake Gardiner also are blossoming nicely on the blue line. The Leafs have built a talented foundation

Antonio Brown Is A Good Reminder Not To Obsess Over Combine Results

Share this: The Pittsburgh Steelers determined Monday that Antonio Brown is the best wide receiver in the NFL when they handed him a four-year, $68 million contract, making him the highest-paid player at his position. This is despite the fact Brown isn’t a freak athlete. That’s not a knock against Brown. I’m not a freak athlete. Neither is Tom Brady (sure, he says he would perform better at the NFL Scouting Combine now than he did 17 years ago, but it would take him another 150 years of improvement before he reaches freak levels of athleticism, and he probably won’t be very spry at the age of 189). Many quarterbacks aren’t freak athletes yet still reach an elite level of play on the field. Wide

Should Dwight Howard Have Been Ejected From Celtics-Hawks? NBA Says No

Share this: The Atlanta Hawks proved they didn’t need Dwight Howard to steamroll the Boston Celtics on Monday night. But does that mean the Hawks center deserved to get tossed? Howard already had been assessed one technical foul at TD Garden for giving Al Horford a hearty shove early in the third quarter. Later in the period, Howard gave a little extra flourish on a putback dunk, letting out a yell as he did a half chin-up on the rim. The refs didn’t like that, either, and hit him with another technical. By NBA rule, two technical fouls in a game is an automatic ejection, meaning Howard’s night ended prematurely. The Hawks, of course, were outraged, arguing that Howard’s dunk was nothing more than an

Billy Jaffe Talks NHL Trade Deadline, Possible Moves For Bruins

Share this: The NHL trade deadline is Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET, and NESN’s Billy Jaffe broke down some potential trade targets for the Boston Bruins on Monday’s “NESN Live.” Jaffe also discussed the trades that have already happened around the league and the effect it could have on the Bruins’ decision-making. The Bruins are coming home after going 3-1-0 on their West Coast road trip, and general manager Don Sweeney might not have to make a major move with the way the team has been playing under interim head coach Bruce Cassidy. For more information about the upcoming NHL trade deadline, check out the video above from “NESN Live.” Thumbnail photo from Winslow Townson/USA TODAY Sports More Stories Source link

NFL Rumors: Giants Use Franchise Tag On Defensive End Jason Pierre-Paul

Share this: Jason Pierre-Paul reportedly will continue to terrorize quarterbacks for the New York Giants next season. The Giants placed the franchise tag on Pierre-Paul on Monday, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, citing league sources. The veteran defensive end was given the franchise tag in 2015 prior to his July 4 fireworks accident, which cost him his right index finger and parts of several other fingers. Despite the damage to his hand, Pierre-Paul proved that he could still be an effective pass rusher during the 2016 season. The 28-year-old recorded seven sacks and was tied for the NFL lead with eight deflected passes through just 12 games before his season was ended due to sports hernia surgery. Pierre-Paul played last season under a one-year
