Share this: HOUSTON — The New England Patriots will play in Super Bowl LI on Sunday, and Jamie Collins will not. If Patriots fans were told that before the season, they’d probably believe it’s because Collins had suffered some significant injury. In reality, though, Collins shockingly was traded on Oct. 31 to the Cleveland Browns, who have welcomed the linebacker with open arms and given him a four-year, $40 contract extension. “I remember the first week he came to Cleveland, in practice, his position and my position go up against each other quite a bit,” Browns tight end Seth DeValve told NESN.com’s Michaela Vernava on Friday at Radio Row, “and I was like, wow, this guy’s good, he’s going to be a great

Hartford Mayor, Connecticut Governor Invite Islanders To Play At XL Center
Share this: Are the Hartford Whalers coming back to the NHL? Connecticut politicians would like to see that happen. Barclays Center reportedly ended its relationship with the New York Islanders after just two seasons, so the team will need a place to play after their contract is up following the 2018-19 season. And Connecticut governor Dannel Malloy and Hartford mayor Luke Bronin would like that place to be the XL Center in their state’s capital. The Hartford-New Haven television market actually is the largest in the country without a professional sports team in the four major leagues, but the return of the NHL is a long shot. The Whalers left town and became the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997 in part because of low
Tuukka Rask To Start 12th Straight Game Saturday Vs. Maple Leafs
Share this: The Boston Bruins have gotten their money’s worth with goalie Tuukka Rask this season. The B’s have relied heavily on the All-Star goaltender, as Rask has started in net for 43 of the team’s 54 games. Rask’s workload will continue Saturday, as he’s expected to be between the pipes for the 12th straight game when the Bruins take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Head coach Claude Julien is mindful of Rask’s usage, but understands that when it comes to fighting for a playoff spot, you have to go with your best option. To hear more from Julien, as well as several Bruins players, check out the video above from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United Bank. More Stories Source link
Brad Stevens Humbly Answers What Coaching East All-Stars Means To Him
Share this: As Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens pointed out after the C’s 113-107 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, someone other than him “should be” leading the Eastern Conference in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game, but that won’t be the case Feb. 19 in New Orleans. Since the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Ty Lue led the East All-Stars last season, Stevens will coach the Eastern Conference due to his C’s having the second-best record in the conference after Friday night’s games, a mark they clinched before the win thanks to the Toronto Raptors’ loss to the Orlando Magic. Stevens was asked about that honor right off the bat in his postgame press conference. “It should be Ty Lue, but the way the rules work it’s the next best
Celtics Notes: Anticipation Growing For Paul Pierce’s Final Game In Boston
Share this: Houston will be the center of the sports world on Sunday for Super Bowl LI between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, but that won’t be the only big Boston sports event that day. The red-hot Celtics also will play in a matinee contest against the Los Angeles Clippers in what will be Paul Pierce’s last regular-season game in Boston. Ever. Pierce played 15 seasons in Boston, and helped the Celtics win their 17th NBA championship in 2008. That’s something C’s fans never will forget. And while he hasn’t played for the home team at TD Garden since the 2012-13 season, his presence still is felt all throughout the building. “I think he’s highly respected here and around this league,” Celtics
Linda Holliday’s Swarovski Crystal Bill Belichick Hoodie Is Amazingly Extra
Share this: It’s going to be hard to miss Linda Holliday during Super Bowl LI. Keeping in form with the fashion choices of her boyfriend, New England head coach Bill Belichick, Holliday purchased a new hoodie ahead of the big game between the Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. However, it’s slightly less subtle than Belichick’s usual gray, blue and sleeveless attire. The designer, Leah Miller, has outfitted wives, girlfriends and family members across the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL in blinged-out jerseys, coats and other accessories, according to photos from her website. Plenty of Patriots supporters have purchased them, too, including Vince Wilfork’s wife (she owns quite a few), Jerod Mayo’s wife, Randy Moss’ former girlfriend and Deion Branch’s wife, sister and mother.
