Sidney Crosby Better Than Tom Brady? Pittsburgh Newspaper Poses Question
Share this: It isn’t even technically summer yet, but we apparently already have reached the dog days of sports debates. The Penguins won their third Stanley Cup in nine seasons, leading Joshua Axelrod of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to debate with himself if Sidney Crosby is better than New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Don’t worry, Axelrod wasn’t asking if Crosby is a better football (no) or hockey (hopefully) player than Brady. He was trying to figure out who is the best player in North American professional sports. His list was narrowed down to Crosby, Brady and LeBron James. Ultimately (spoiler alert), Axelrod gave the nod to Brady because the QB “is currently in the conversation for being the greatest ever at the most valuable
Red Sox Notes: Boston’s Bullpen Comes Up Big For Second Straight Night
Share this: With the Boston Red Sox playing three straight four-hour games and back-to-back extra-inning affairs, the team needed help from its bullpen toward the end of the current homestand. And the bullpen delivered. The Sox’s relievers combined to pitch 11 scoreless innings in Boston’s two wins over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday and Tuesday, including six frames in Tuesday’s 4-3 12-inning victory at Fenway Park. Boston left-handed starter David Price went the first six innings and allowed three earned runs before turning it over to the bullpen. Robby Scott, Blaine Boyer, Craig Kimbrel, Heath Hembree and Fernando Abad (2-0) then took it from there. There certainly were some close calls for the bullpen, including a deep drive from Maikel Franco that just barely missed

Benintendi ripped a laser over the head of right fielder Aaron Altherr to score Xander Bogaerts and send the Fenway Faithful into a frenzy. The Red Sox will head to Philadelphia for two more against the Phillies before moving on to the Houston to face the Astros, and finishing the trip in Kansas City against the Royals. To hear what Benintendi had to say about the win and the upcoming road trip, check out the video above from “Red Sox Final,” presented
Bruins Legend Bobby Orr Impressed With ‘Wonderful’ Charlie McAvoy
Share this: The Ames Hotel in Boston opened its new Bobby Orr suite Tuesday, and while the suite is a Boston Bruins fan’s dream come true, the B’s legend was more impressed with the young talent on the current roster. Although the Bruins were eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Ottawa Senators, Orr doesn’t believe the B’s are that far away from getting back to the promised land. Orr specifically has been dazzled by rookie defenseman Charlie McAvoy. ” I was impressed with Charlie right out of the chute,” Orr told NESN.com’s Michaela Vernava. “He didn’t look like a player that was just playing his first game in the NHL. But Charlie, we look after Charlie, he’s one
Mike Brown’s NBA Title With Warriors Came At Cavs’ Expense (Literally)
Share this: At this time last year, Mike Brown was out of an NBA job. Now — well, let’s just say he’s in a much more enviable situation. The Warriors assistant coach earned himself a ring Monday night when Golden State dispatched the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The victory was especially sweet for Brown, considering the Cavs fired him twice from two separate head coaching jobs in 2010 and 2014. But it gets even better. When Cleveland signed him a second time in April 2013, Brown inked a five-year contract reportedly worth $20 million, part of which was guaranteed. And when he was fired a year later, a provision in his contract ensured he’d still receive that money in payments
