UPDATE (11:50 p.m. ET): Six World Series games simply was not enough.
The Chicago Cubs forced a Game 7 with a convincing 9-3 win over the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field on Tuesday.
And now it all comes down to one more game Wednesday night.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Chicago Cubs are doing everything they can early in Game 6 to make sure their season doesn’t end Tuesday night.
The Cubs, facing a win-or-go-home scenario in Cleveland with the Indians up 3-2 in the World Series, got out to a huge seven-run lead thanks to a couple of highlight-reel home runs at Progressive Field.
The headline came off the bat of Addison Russell, who blasted a grand slam in the top of the third inning off reliever Dan Otero.
Otero had to enter the game in the third after Indians starter Josh Tomlin struggled mightily through 2 1/3 innings. He was charged with six earned runs after the grand slam.
He did get the first two batters he faced out, but he ended up allowing three runs in the first, including one on a Kris Bryant solo home run.
