When Mookie Betts left the batting cage Friday afternoon, he was sure it wasn’t going to be a good night at the plate, according to Boston Red Sox hitting coach Chili Davis.
Hours later following a 5-for-5 performance, we all had a friendly reminder of why Betts has catapulted himself into the forefront of the conversation to win the American League MVP award.
As Davis explains to NESN’s Guerin Austin, as seen in the video from “Red Sox First Pitch” above, baseball is a game with highs and lows, but Betts is so successful because he never lets those lows drop too far or out of control.
Check out more of his assessment in the video above.
