Jason Kipnis knows better.
Texas Ranger second baseman Rougned Odor made himself a household name earlier this season when he blasted Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista square in the jaw following a hard takeout slide. Kipnis clearly didn’t want to be Odor’s next victim, so he chose a different path Thursday night when Odor went flying into second base in an attempt to break up a double play.
Rather than put up his dukes like Bautista, Kipnis immediately backed away from Odor. It was a playful gesture by the Cleveland Indians second baseman, and one that Odor and the Rangers’ dugout couldn’t help but smile about as Kipnis ran off the field.
