Spartaks Jūrmala have claimed their maiden Latvian title with a game to go following a 2-0 victory against RFS on Saturday.
Spartaks were ten points clear of second-placed Ventspils in September, but Oleg Kubarev’s men stalled and allowed both Ventspils and Jelgava back into the race. However, with Ventspils losing against lowly METTA, Andrejs Kiriļins’s header and Evgeni Kozlov’s late strike pushed them over the line.
