Aroldis Chapman’s stay in New York might be a short one.
The New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs are working on a deal that would send Chapman to Chicago in exchange for infield prospect Gleyber Torres, according to Today’s Knuckleball’s Jon Heyman. No deal has been finalized, but sources confirmed to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal on Sunday that the teams are discussing a Torres-Chapman trade.
And in a sign that a deal might be imminent, Torres was scratched from Class A Myrtle Beach’s game Sunday.
Chapman, who was suspended for the first 30 games of the season due to domestic violence, is 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA and 20 saves in his first season with the Yankees.
The Cubs, who have no shortage of young talent, would lose their No. 1 rated prospect, according to MLB.com, if the teams finalize the trade.
