It’s not easy to whittle all the New England Patriots greats into a top 10, but the NFL Network gave it a crack Friday night in “Top 10: New England Patriots.” And while it’s hard to argue with most of the picks, there were some interesting choices.
Now, one thing you can’t argue with is Tom Brady as the No. 1 Patriot of all time. Brady already arguably is the greatest quarterback in NFL history, so he was a lock at the top of this list.
While many of the selections were from the past two decades, there were a few legends on the list. Pro Football Hall of Famers John Hannah (No. 2), Andre Tippett (No. 4) and Mike Haynes (No. 5) all made the top five, while Steve Nelson and Stanley Morgan came in at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively.
Rob Gronkowski (No. 3), Ty Law (No. 6), Troy Brown (No. 7) and Adam Vinatieri (No. 10) rounded out the list.
Gronk being ranked that high seemed to surprise a lot of people, as did the the omissions of Willie McGinest, Drew Bledsoe and Tedy Bruschi.
