NFL Trade Rumors: Browns’ Hue Jackson Slams Door On Joe Thomas Chatter

Hue Jackson couldn’t have been any clearer Monday.

The Cleveland Browns head coach said point blank the team has no plans to trade Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas. This comes one day after ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reported that a trade involving Thomas is possible this season.

Thomas, who was selected third overall in 2007, has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his nine seasons. The 31-year-old still is considered one of the best left tackles in the NFL, so he’d almost certainly draw plenty of interest if the Browns decided to make a move.

Unfortunately for teams seeking offensive line help, it appears Thomas is off the table for now despite the Browns sitting at 0-7. And it doesn’t sound like the organization is going to change its tune before the Nov. 1 trade deadline.

“Joe Thomas has a lot to do with what we’re trying to accomplish here in the future,” Jackson told reporters Monday. “So like you said there’s a lot of reports and that’s just what they are.”

Thomas has started all 151 games for the Browns since entering the league. He’s currently signed through the 2018 season.
