Not everyone — ahem, Kate Upton — was happy about Rick Porcello winning the American League Cy Young Award, but his family and friends certainly were.
The Boston Red Sox right-hander was named the 2016 AL Cy Young in a ridiculously close vote over Justin Verlander. Porcello, who led Major League Baseball with 22 wins, got six fewer first-place votes than Verlander, but two voters left the Detroit Tigers ace completely off their ballots, allowing for Porcello to win the overall points by five.
In the grand scheme of things, though, the vote total probably won’t matter for Porcello. He will forever be the 2016 AL Cy Young, which made everyone at the Porcello household pretty emotional in a priceless celebration that will leave you smiling.
