Shaquille O’Neal Breaks Backboard After Monster Put-Back Dunk (Video)

Editor’s note: The 2011-12 NBA season was supposed to tip off Nov. 1. With no games to watch, NESN.com will help fill the void by posting a dunk video every day until the lockout ends.

Shaquille O’Neal picked the right time to walk away from the game. The Diesel announced his retirement at the end of last season, ending a 20-year career filled with tons of accolades and four NBA championship rings. With the league in a lockout, he wouldn’t have been playing much anyway.

Shaq started his career in Orlando with the Magic and quickly turned the team into a contender. Always one of the biggest players in the game, he was an immovable object in the paint.

During a game in Phoenix against the Suns, Shaq caused an entire basketball hoop to collapse after a put-back dunk.
