The 2016 NFL season has been a rough one for Stephen Gostkowski, but the New England Patriots kicker might finally be rounding into form.
Gostkowski drilled all four of his field-goal attempts and hit on both of his extra points in Sunday’s 26-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams, earning him AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Gostkowski was the NFL’s most accurate kicker over the previous three seasons, but he’s struggled during the current campaign, missing seven kicks (four field goals, three extra points) through 12 games. Sunday marked just his fifth perfect effort this season.
“It’s a start,” Gostkowski said after the game. “It’s one game. Every week is a different challenge. You’ve just got to battle, keep your head down, stay humble and show up but control your attitude and your effort and make sure both of those are good. And have faith in the process that what you’ve been doing is going to continue.”
