Could Zaza Pachulia Be Suspended For Iman Shumpert Groin Shot In Game 4?

Share this: For the second straight NBA Finals, there’s controversy over a member of the Golden State Warriors punching a Cleveland Cavaliers player below the belt in Game 4. One year after Warriors forward Draymond Green was suspended for Game 5 of the 2015-16 NBA Finals for punching LeBron James in the groin, center Zaza Pachulia is in a similar situation after taking a cheap shot at Cavs guard Iman Shumpert. The two got into it late in the third quarter after Shumpert continued to grab at the basketball in Pachulia’s hands that already was called a jump ball. Pachulia’s punch was blatant, but it’s unlikely he’ll receive any significant punishment for it. For starters, both he and Shumpert received technical fouls on

IOC Adds 3-On-3 Basketball To 2020 Summer Olympic Games In Tokyo

Share this: The International Olympic Committee is trying to bring more youth to its basketball teams. The IOC announced Friday that the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo will feature 3-on-3 basketball, something FIBA has been trying to get onto the program since 2007. The event is part of the committee’s focus toward more “youth-focused and urban-based additions,” which include the 3-on-3 tournament, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing, among others. The addition actually isn’t all that new, though, as the Youth Olympic Games featured 3-on-3 basketball in the 2010 YOG in Singapore and the 2014 YOG in Nanjing, China, where it was a huge success. Stephen Curry’s Struggle To Grow Playoff Beard Is Real; Why Warriors Star Won’t …

Share this: Stephen Curry plays basketball better than he grows facial hair. The Golden State Warriors star told “Good Morning America” on Thursday he has been having trouble growing a playoff beard recently. But he vowed he wouldn’t shave his beard until after the Golden State Warriors’ pursuit of this season’s NBA championship is over. Curry also discussed his relationship with LeBron James, whose Cleveland Cavaliers will take on Curry’s Warriors in the NBA Finals. Game 1 will be on Thursday night in Oakland, Calif. Magic Johnson Explains What LaVar Ball, Kris Jenner Have In Common

Share this: LaVar Ball isn’t the first parent to put his children in the spotlight. Magic Johnson, the Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations, told ESPN Radio Los Angeles on Wednesday, he has “no problem” with Ball’s antics and doesn’t expect them to affect his son Lonzo’s NBA career, according to Bleacher Report’s Mike Chiari. Johnson even compared LaVar Ball to Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the Kardashian family (of reality television fame). “Look, the Kardashians, we didn’t say that the mom was bad, and she made them a lot of money, right?” Johnson said. “She’s bragged on her daughters, and I think it’s the same here. He’s (Ball) just saying, ‘Hey, my son is great,’ and there’s nothing bad with that.” Lonzo

Magic Johnson On Celtics Winning NBA Draft Lottery: ‘I Still Hate Them’

Share this: The best rivalry in basketball is between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, and that feud continued off the court Tuesday night at the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery. The Celtics were the luckier team as they won the draft lottery, earning the No. 1 pick in June’s draft. The Lakers, who would’ve been forced to give their pick to the Philadelphia 76ers if it landed outside the top three, were fortunate to get the No. 2 pick. New Lakers president Magic Johnson was asked about his rivals winning the top pick, and he gave a predictable response. Magic Johnson Told Luke Walton Lakers Will ‘Get Top-Three Pick’ In NBA Draft

Share this: The Los Angeles Lakers only have a 46.9 percent chance of keeping their first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, but head coach Luke Walton isn’t too concerned about that. If the Lakers pick falls outside of the top three then it becomes the property of the Philadelphia 76ers, which could be detrimental to the team’s attempted rebuild. Walton revealed on the CBS Sports program “We Need To Talk,” that he had a conversation with team president of basketball operations Magic Johnson in which he received some news about the Lakers’ potential pick. “Magic’s already assured me that we’re going to get our top-three pick this year, so I’m excited about that,” Walton said, as transcribed by Bleacher Report’s Zac Wassink. Walton was able

Jimmy Butler Calls Out Marcus Smart After Bulls’ Loss To Celtics For ‘Acting Tou…

Share this: Marcus Smart is one of the toughest defenders in basketball, but Jimmy Butler believes it’s all an act. In the second quarter of Game 4 of the first-round NBA playoff series between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls on Sunday, Smart and Butler engaged in a bit of a scrum and were forced to be separated by players and officials. Smart appeared to be standing his ground against the Bulls star, but Butler accredited that to the Celtics guard’s acting skills. “As far as the Marcus Smart situation goes, he’s a great actor, acting tough,” Butler told MassLive’s Tom Westerholm. “That’s what he does. But I don’t think he’s about that. I’m the wrong guy to get in my face. He needs
