Chris Sale, Who Got David Price’s Blessing, Doesn’t Care About ‘Ace’ Label

Share this: Just two seasons ago, the Boston Red Sox’s lack of an ace was such a hot topic that Clay Buchholz made T-shirts about it. Now, the Red Sox have three of them. Dave Dombrowski and Co. landed the prize of the offseason Tuesday in Chris Sale, adding one of the best pitchers in baseball to a rotation that includes five-time All-Star David Price and reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello. In a conference call with the Red Sox on Wednesday morning, Sale gushed about pitching among such talent. It appears the feeling is mutual, too: Sale says Price was the first person to contact him after Tuesday’s blockbuster. “Yes, more so with Price, just seeing each other during the summer,” Sale

Red Sox Notes: David Price’s Rough Outing Still Is No Reason To Panic

Share this: Those hoping David Price and the Boston Red Sox never would lose again were sorely disappointed Tuesday. It was a night of broken streaks in the Bronx, as the New York Yankees beat the Red Sox 6-4 to end Boston’s 11-game run while also handing Price his first loss in his last 10 starts. Price’s outing was anything but pretty. He gave up six runs in 6 1/3 innings and tied a season high with 12 hits allowed, three of which were home runs. It was the fourth consecutive start he’s allowed at least one homer, and he’s surrendered six in that span after allowing just one in his prior four starts. “To have a chance to clinch the division for us here, it’s not acceptable,”

David Price Reveals His AL Cy Young Winner; Red Sox Fans Probably Agree

Share this: David Price went to bat for his teammate Tuesday. While many probably expected Price to be in the American League Cy Young discussion this year, a slow start threatened to derail the left-hander’s first season in Boston. That doesn’t mean a Red Sox pitcher won’t bring home the hardware, though, as Rick Porcello is a serious contender for the award. Price wants the world to know. I haven't done my due diligence for my teammate and it's well over due…RICK PORCELLO for cy!! Last night should have solidified that #RPCY — David Price (@DAVIDprice24) September 20, 2016 Porcello tossed a complete game Monday as the Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles 5-2. The right-hander now is 21-4 with a 3.08 ERA over 210 2/2

The left-hander is starting for the Red Sox on Saturday against the Yankees at Fenway Park, and he has a chance to extend his own winning streak to eight games. Price has a 2.16 ERA and 51 strikeouts over 50 innings in his last seven outings, however, he hasn’t fared as well against New York this season. Price is 1-2 with a 7.79 ERA in three starts against the Bronx Bombers. The rest of the Red Sox’s lineup remains pretty much unchanged from Friday, save for the addition of Andrew Benintendi.

Share this: It’s been an up-and-down season for some of the Red Sox’s starting rotation, but August has been mostly ups for Boston’s starters. The Red Sox’s rotation has a 5-3 record with a 2.69 ERA in 97 innings this month, and David Price will look to improve those numbers even more when he takes the mound against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.
