Billy Jaffe Talks NHL Trade Deadline, Possible Moves For Bruins

Share this: The NHL trade deadline is Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET, and NESN’s Billy Jaffe broke down some potential trade targets for the Boston Bruins on Monday’s “NESN Live.” Jaffe also discussed the trades that have already happened around the league and the effect it could have on the Bruins’ decision-making. The Bruins are coming home after going 3-1-0 on their West Coast road trip, and general manager Don Sweeney might not have to make a major move with the way the team has been playing under interim head coach Bruce Cassidy. Wyc Grousbeck: Celtics Comfortable With Trade Deadline, But Still Two Players Aw…

Share this: The rumor mill was working at full power on NBA trade deadline day, and the asset-rich Boston Celtics were at the center of all the action — until there weren’t. The Celtics were linked to trades for Jimmy Butler or Paul George, but no deals materialized. So they’ll begin their post-All-Star break slate Friday against the Toronto Raptors with the same exact roster that’s propelled them to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. And Boston is feeling good about where it is, although it admittedly still has work to do to become a championship contender. “We’re very comfortable with what happened,” Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck said Friday on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Felger & Mazz,” as transcribed by CSNNE.com. “We offered

NBA Rumors: Celtics, Bulls ‘Exchanged A Bunch Of Proposals’ On Jimmy Butler

Share this: The Boston Celtics made an effort to land a star before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, but they couldn’t find a deal to their liking. In the end, the C’s made no trades at all. ESPN.com’s Zach Lowe wrote an excellent piece outlining Boston’s deadline action, including its pursuit of Chicago Bulls star forward Jimmy Butler. “Butler was more obtainable for Boston, and the two sides exchanged a bunch of proposals,” Lowe writes. “The particulars are hard to pin down, but suffice it to say this: Boston could not find a package that left both its present and its future in a place that felt comfortable. Give up too much of the present, and you can’t compete with the big boys. Toss every pick into the

NBA Rumors: Chris Paul, Clippers ‘Verbally Agreed’ To Massive Extension

Share this: As max contracts for NBA players continue to rise at crazy rates, the Los Angeles Clippers could be in for quite a ride in the near future. The Clippers likely will have two superstars up for new contracts in the offseason, as point guard Chris Paul and power forward Blake Griffin, both of whom have dealt with significant injuries this season, can opt out of their deals. And when you can make even more than the $20 million-plus annual average value you’re already making, why wouldn’t you? That’s not exactly an ideal situation for the Clippers to be in. But it turns out L.A. likely only will have to worry about putting together a contract for Griffin, as it already has

NBA Slam Dunk Contest: Glenn Robinson III Shines In Overall Dreadful Competition

Share this: The 2017 Verizon Slam Dunk Contest was one for the ages, for all the wrong reasons. It was a pretty miserable way to cap off NBA All-Star Saturday, as there felt like there were just as many misses as made dunks. However, the Indiana Pacers’ Glenn Robinson III was one of the lone bright spots, as he went on to win the contest. That last one sealed the deal for Robinson in the finals over the Phoenix Suns’ Derrick Jones Jr., who had some pretty impressive dunks of his own in the first round. But he failed to make a single attempt for his first dunk before finishing his night with this: Aaron Gordon and DeAndre Jordan, the other two competitors in the dunk

Georges St-Pierre Reportedly Signs Agreement To Return To UFC

Share this: Georges St-Pierre reportedly will make his long-awaited return to the UFC. The former welterweight champion reportedly reached a new fight agreement with the UFC on Friday, UFC president Dana White told Lance Pugmire of The Los Angeles Times. “He’s back. I’m excited,” White told Pugmire. “We worked at it for a long time and finally got it done.” St-Pierre’s return will give the UFC a pay-per-view star to lessen the blow of losing lightweight champion Conor McGregor while he awaits the birth of his child. GSP has a record of 25-2 and will be riding a 12-fight winning streak when he reenters the octagon. St-Pierre’s last fight came against Johny Hendrix when he successfully defended his welterweight championship at UFC 167 in November 2013. He
