Share this: Pre-deadline trades 1, standing pat 0. The Boston Celtics didn’t do anything before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, while the teams around them in the standings, including the Toronto Raptors, were active. We’ll have to give the teams’ decisions more than one game to find out what the right decision ultimately was, but Friday night belonged to the Raptors. The Kyle Lowry-less (wrist) Raptors gained ground on the Avery Bradley-less (Achilles) Celtics in the race for the Eastern Conference’s No. 2 seed with a 107-97 win at Air Canada Centre. Isaiah Thomas led the C’s with 20 points and was one of four Boston players in double figures, along with Marcus Smart (19 points), Jae Crowder (19 points) and Jaylen Brown (13 points). DeMar DeRozan

Andrew Wiggins Posterizes Nikola Jokic With Sick Dunk In 40-Point Game
Share this: Andrew Wiggins dropped 40 points on the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night, and two of those points felt much bigger than the rest. The Minnesota Timberwolves forward put Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic on a poster with a jaw-dropping dunk. It was one of the best slams of the season so far. Wiggins also made a little team history with his offensive production in Minnesota’s 112-99 win. Celtics Wrap: Isaiah Thomas, Kelly Olynyk Lead C’s To 112-104 Win Over Jazz
Share this: The Boston Celtics should have been tired playing their third game in four nights against a team with the third-ranked defense in the NBA. The C’s, however, shot 59.2 percent from the field en route to a 112-104 win over the Utah Jazz that wasn’t as close as the final score would indicate. Boston got off to a hot start and never let the Jazz get comfortable, leading by double digits for most of the contest before weathering a late run to secure the win. Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics with 29 points, while Kelly Olynyk (19 points, seven rebounds), Gerald Green (16 points) and Al Horford (16 points, nine rebounds) each scored in double figures for the Celtics. Holly Holm Calls Germaine de Randamie’s Post-Bell Strikes ‘Intentional’
Share this: NEW YORK — The first ever UFC women’s featherweight champion was crowned at UFC 208, but it wasn’t without controversy. Germaine de Randamie defeated Holly Holm via unanimous decision in the main event at Barclays Center to capture the inaugural belt, but there were a couple of controversial moments in the fight that left a bitter taste in Holm’s mouth. At the end of the second and third rounds, de Randamie delivered blows to Holm’s head after the bell. The fight’s official, Todd Anderson, who doesn’t have much experience in big events, did not deduct a point from de Randamie and that decision likely altered the fight’s decision. Following the fight, Holm said she thought she missed several opportunities to win on

Celtics Wrap: Isaiah Thomas, C’s Come Storming Back To Beat Trail Blazers
Share this: Maybe the West Coast isn’t so bad after all for the Boston Celtics. The C’s opened their current four-game road trip with a brutal loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, and Thursday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers appeared to be more of the same after the first quarter. But Boston came back from a 17-point deficit to top Portland 120-111 at Moda Center. Shocker: Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics, who were without two of their starters — Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley — with 34 points. Marcus Smart (18 points, five steals, five assists, six rebounds), Kelly Olynyk (13 points, seven rebounds), Al Horford (12 points, five rebounds), Gerald Green (11 points), Terry Rozier (11 points, five assists) and Jaylen
Celtics Wrap: Boston’s Offense Struggles In Frustrating 108-92 Loss To Kings
Share this: The Boston Celtics could not extend their winning streak to eight games, as the Sacramento Kings took advantage of a sloppy Celtics performance and took a 108-92 victory. The Celtics struggled all night offensively, shooting just 39.7 percent from the field. Ball security also troubled Boston, as it committed seventeen turnovers. Isaiah Thomas led the C’s with 26 points, but his point total was matched by the Kings’ Darren Collison. Sacramento also received major help from the bench, as Ben McLemore (17 points) and Matt Barnes (14 points) both had strong offensive nights. Amir Johnson had a quality night for Boston with 14 points and five rebounds. With the loss, the Celtics drop to 33-19, while the Kings improve to 21-32. Here’s how it
