Some Of The Medals From 2016 Rio Olympics Are Literally Falling Apart

Share this: Imagine this: You finally accomplished your lifelong dream of winning an Olympic medal, and it’s displayed prominently in your trophy case. But when you show it to family and friends a year later, it doesn’t look the same — in fact, it’s flaking apart. That scenario apparently is a reality for a number of medal winners from the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. According to a report from the Agence France-Presse, a good chunk of the 2,000-plus medals from Rio, which were made with recyclable material, have chipped away and shown signs of deterioration. “We’re seeing problems with the covering on between six or seven percent of the medals and it seems to be to do with the difference in

Why Security Questioned Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s Dad After Son’s First Win

Share this: Ricky Stenhouse Sr. has a habit of climbing catch fences. The father of NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has taken that shortcut to victory lane before after his son’s racing wins in lower series, but when his scaling attempt was thwarted on Sunday, things got interesting for him at Talladega Superspeedway. And by “interesting” we mean he was temporarily detained while his son celebrated the No. 17 team’s victory in the GEICO 500. [embedded content] “Somebody stole his golf cart last night, I think, for one thing, so he was worried about that,” Stenhouse Jr. told reporters, laughing. “I told him we’ll get him another one. Then, I don’t have the full story, (but) he got escorted to victory lane, though, by troopers.” Roush

Wizards Show Not-So-Subtle Solidarity For Kelly Oubre Jr. In Game 4

Share this: Sunday might have been the most love Kelly Oubre Jr. has gotten at a Washington Wizards game. And he didn’t even play. The Wizards swingman was suspended for Game 4 of his team’s second-round NBA playoff series against the Boston Celtics after bull-rushing Kelly Olynyk in Game 3. The suspension didn’t really come as much of a surprise (just watch the play for yourself), but don’t tell that to team owner Ted Leonsis. Leonsis and his son both showed up to Verizon Center on Sunday rocking Oubre’s No. 12 jersey over their business attire, with the Wizards owner even tweeting out a photo of himself with the hashtag “#FreeOubre.” Lest Washington fans didn’t see Leonsis’ show of support for Oubre, everyone in

Ravens’ John Harbaugh Defends Orioles In Growing Rivalry With Red Sox

Share this: John Harbaugh never has been one to shy away from criticizing Boston sports teams, and the Baltimore Ravens head coach unsurprisingly backed the Baltimore Orioles in their ongoing feud with the Boston Red Sox. Harbaugh brought up the growing rivalry between American League East foes at his media session Saturday, and came to the defense of Orioles starter Kevin Gausman, who was ejected during Wednesday’s game for hitting Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts with a curveball. “It was a curveball. It was a curveball,” Harbaugh said, per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “It didn’t break.” The pitch that Gausman threw registered at 77 mph, which led Harbaugh to scoff at the need for an ejection. “That’s a love tap,” Harbaugh said. New Lawsuit Alleges Bose Headphones Spy On Listeners Via Connect App

Share this: Bose makes some of the best audio equipment around. However, the company might be using some of its technology to break the law. In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in federal court in Chicago, Kyle Zak alleges Bose spies on its wireless headphone customers by using an app that tracks the various types of audio entertainment they listen to, according to Reuters. Furthermore, Zak claims the Framingham, Mass., company violates privacy rights by selling users’ information without permission. “People should be uncomfortable with it,” Christopher Dore, Zak’s lawer, said in an interview, via Reuters “People put headphones on their head because they think it’s private, but they can be giving out information they don’t want to share.” Zak reportedly is seeking millions of dollars of damages

Lawrence Guy Reported Signing Isn’t Flashy, But He Could Help Patriots

Share this: As far as the New England Patriots official and reported moves so far this offseason go, the reported signing of defensive lineman Lawrence Guy won’t make the headlines that the Brandin Cooks trade made. But he still could play an important role on the 2017 Pats. Guy, who reportedly signed a four-year, $20 million contract to join New England, should give the Patriots some nice depth on their interior defensive line. Hear NESN.com Patriots beat writer Doug Kyed and NESN’s Jahmai Webster break down the Patriots’ latest moves in the video from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United Bank, above.
