Stephen Curry Ditches Panthers Gear For Raiders Jersey After Losing Bet

Share this: Stephen Curry might be the most popular athlete in Oakland, but that doesn’t mean he roots for the local NFL team. The Golden State Warriors point guard grew up in Charlotte, N.C., and has been a vocal supporter Panthers. He even took part in the Super Bowl 50 pregame festivities on the Carolina sideline. But that support ended up costing him Sunday, as he apparently lost a bet with the Raiders’ 35-32 win over the Panthers. As a result, he had to wear the Silver and Black at Oakland Coliseum. And the Raiders sure were happy. Sorry, Steph. Thumbnail photo via Matthew Emmons/USA TODAY Sports Images More Stories Source link

Cubs, Simone Biles Among SI’s 2016 Sportsperson Of The Year Contenders

Share this: It’s been one heck of a year in sports, to say the least. We had the 2016 Summer Olympics, the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series for the first time since 1908, Cleveland finally winning a title again thanks to the Cavaliers, Peyton Manning riding off into the sunset with a Super Bowl title and much, much more. So it must have been a pretty difficult task for Sports Illustrated to come up with just 12 contenders for its annual Sportsperson of the Year award, which was given to women’s tennis star Serena Williams in 2015. Five athletes who starred in the 2016 Rio Olympics are contenders, including Michael Phelps (men’s swimming), Katie Ledecky (women’s swimming), Simone Biles (women’s gymnastics), Usain Bolt (track

Doug Baldwin: Patriots-Seahawks Finish ‘Ironic’ After Super Bowl XLIX

Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ 31-24 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night came down to a play at the goal line. Hmm. When has that happened before? Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin called attention to the coincidence his team’s Week 10 matchup with the Patriots finished similarly — though with opposite results — to Seattle’s Super Bowl XLIX loss to New England. “You know it’s kind of ironic (to have) the ball on the one-yard line and an opportunity to win it,” Baldwin said after the game. “Fortunately enough, the ball rolled our way this time.” Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw an incomplete pass to tight end Rob Gronkowski on fourth down from the 1-yard line Sunday night. Patriots’ Keys For Second Half: Improving Pass Rush Crucial For New England

Share this: The New England Patriots had a pretty good first half of the season, to say the least. Even without Tom Brady for four games, New England still are 7-1 heading into their Week 9 bye. But that doesn’t mean they can just sit back, relax and cruise to another Super Bowl. No, there’s still plenty the Pats can work on, and key No. 1 is improving their pass rush. Hear NESN.com Patriots beat writer Doug Kyed explain that key and more in the video from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by Cross Insurance, above. More Stories Source link
