Warriors Eliminate Spurs, Reach NBA Finals For Third Season In A Row

Share this: The Golden State Warriors faced little resistance from the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference finals en route to a third consecutive trip to the NBA Finals. Golden State won by double-digits in each of game of the series to complete a sweep of the Spurs with a 129-115 victory in Game 4 at the AT&T Center on Monday night. The Warriors also are the first team to ever start the playoffs 12-0. Of course, the Spurs lost their best player, Kawhi Leonard, to an ankle injury in Game 1. San Antonio had a double-digit lead at the time Leonard exited in the third quarter of the series opener. From that point to the end of the series, it was all

Clint Bowyer’s Crew Chief Exploits Tire Option Loophole In All-Star Race

Share this: Tire options made their Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut Saturday night, and the results decidedly were mixed. Though, they were at the center of perhaps the All-Star Race’s most memorable moment, which came courtesy of Clint Bowyer. NASCAR used the exhibition race at Charlotte Motor Speedway as a testing ground for drivers and teams to experiment with tire options. In addition to the traditional Goodyear tires, which feature yellow writing, teams also had the option to use softer, faster tires with bright green lettering. One of the stipulations surrounding the usage of the tires was that teams only had one set, and all four tires in the set had to be put on cars at the same time. But the

Magic Johnson On Celtics Winning NBA Draft Lottery: ‘I Still Hate Them’

Share this: The best rivalry in basketball is between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, and that feud continued off the court Tuesday night at the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery. The Celtics were the luckier team as they won the draft lottery, earning the No. 1 pick in June’s draft. The Lakers, who would’ve been forced to give their pick to the Philadelphia 76ers if it landed outside the top three, were fortunate to get the No. 2 pick. New Lakers president Magic Johnson was asked about his rivals winning the top pick, and he gave a predictable response. Tender Patriots Placed On LeGarrette Blount Hadn’t Been Used For A Long Time

Share this: When word broke last week that the New England Patriots used an unrestricted free agent tender on running back LeGarrette Blount, the option was widely described as “rarely-used.” That might not have done the infrequency justice. The unrestricted free agent tender, or May 9 tender, hadn’t been used since 2000, Peter Schrager reported on NFL Media’s “Good Morning Football.” Twitter user Bryan Brackney says the tender, which formerly was known as the June 1 tender, last was used on Seattle Seahawks guard Frank Beede on June 1, 2000. The tender is a one-year deal worth $1.1 million, or 110 percent of Blount’s 2016 salary. If Blount signs with a team before July 22, the tender means he counts against against that team’s and towards the Patriots’

NFLPA Files Grievance Against NFL Alleging Overprescription Of Painkillers

Share this: The NFL Players Association filed a grievance against the NFL on Monday, and it doesn’t look too good for the league. The NFLPA is alleging the NFL violated the collective bargaining agreement by knowing teams were improperly dispensing painkillers to players but failing to do anything about it. The grievance states “the NFL and clubs have ‘disregarded … explicit CBA requirements as they apply to the proper, legal, medically ethical prescription, dispensing, and transportation of prescription painkillers.’” The Players Association says it warned the NFL about these violations — which range from not informing players about the risks of mixing pills to overprescribing them — in April, and the league didn’t respond in a timely manner. The grievance came after it

Ravens’ John Harbaugh Defends Orioles In Growing Rivalry With Red Sox

Share this: John Harbaugh never has been one to shy away from criticizing Boston sports teams, and the Baltimore Ravens head coach unsurprisingly backed the Baltimore Orioles in their ongoing feud with the Boston Red Sox. Harbaugh brought up the growing rivalry between American League East foes at his media session Saturday, and came to the defense of Orioles starter Kevin Gausman, who was ejected during Wednesday’s game for hitting Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts with a curveball. “It was a curveball. It was a curveball,” Harbaugh said, per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “It didn’t break.” The pitch that Gausman threw registered at 77 mph, which led Harbaugh to scoff at the need for an ejection. “That’s a love tap,” Harbaugh said.
