Falcons GM Wants To Change NFL Overtime Rules After Super Bowl Loss To Patriots

by Zack Cox on Tue, Mar 28, 2017 at 9:09AM 2,555 Share this: After blowing a 25-point lead in the final 17 minutes of Super Bowl LI, Atlanta Falcons never touched the ball in overtime. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots won the coin toss and promptly marched 75 yards down the field for a championship-clinching touchdown. Had the Patriots come up empty on that drive or kicked a field goal, the Falcons would have received a possession of their own. But under NFL rules, if a team scores a touchdown on the opening drive of overtime, the game is over. Thomas Dimitroff would like to see that rule changed. The Falcons general manager said Tuesday on “PFT Live” he believes teams that surrender a

Berkshire Bank Hockey Night In New England: Projected Bruins-Leafs Lines, Pairin…

Share this: Monday night’s game between the Bruins and Leafs in Toronto is a pivotal one in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Boston enters the day three points above Toronto for third place in the Atlantic Division, and a victory for the B’s would give them a nice five-point edge over the Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning in the race for the division’s final playoff berth. Tuukka Rask will be between the pipes for the Bruins, but he’s struggled versus the Leafs this season with an 0-1-0 record, a 4.69 goals against average and a .788 save percentage. The Bruins will need Rask to perform much better than he did Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers, when he allowed five goals on 17 shots in

DIII Basketball Tournament Live Stream: Watch Final Four Games Online

Share this: Looking for a break from an underwhelming start to the 2017 NCAA Tournament? How about a Final Four? While 64 Division I men’s basketball teams battle it out for supremacy in the Big Dance, the Division III bracket already has been whittled down to four teams. This year’s Final Four has some local New England flavor, too, as Williams College and Babson College — both Massachusetts schools — make up half the remaining field in Salem, Va. The 29-2 Babson Beavers kick things off Friday at 5 p.m. ET, taking on Whitman (Wash.) College in the first semifinal. The 23-8 Williams Ephs will battle Augustana (Ill.) in the nightcap at 7 p.m., with the winners meeting in Saturday’s 5 p.m. championship game. Here’s how

Juventus will host AC Milan on Friday at Juventus Stadium in a Serie A (Italy’s first division) game. Juventus has a comfortable lead atop the Serie A standings, while AC Milan is languishing in seventh place with just 11 games remaining in the season. Juventus won the most recent meeting, beating AC Milan 2-1 on Jan. 25 in the Coppa Italia (Italy Cup). The teams’ current

Watch J.R. Smith Try To Pick Fight With Dion Waiters, Heat Players From Bench

Share this: J.R. Smith apparently has a little too much pent-up energy. The Cleveland Cavaliers guard is nearing a return from right thumb surgery but did not suit up for Saturday’s game against the Miami Heat. That didn’t stop him from being the center of attention, though. As time wound down in Miami’s blowout win, television cameras caught Smith barking at Heat guard Dion Waiters from his own bench. When the buzzer sounded, Smith only became more agitated, yelling at several Heat players. He had to be held back by the Cavs’ security team and forcibly escorted from the court. Jimmy Garoppolo Shares Interesting Instagram Post Amid Trade Rumors

Share this: Is it March 9 yet? The NFL offseason doesn’t go into full swing until Thursday, when players with expiring contracts officially become free agents and teams can begin negotiations with players and each other. But until then, speculation will continue to run wild. Case in point: Jimmy Garoppolo. The New England Patriots backup quarterback has been the subject of plenty of trade rumors, and on Friday night, Jimmy G posted a photo on Instagram that had Patriots fans’ imaginations running wild. ✌🏼 #LaFamiglia A post shared by Jimmy Garoppolo (@jimmypolo10) on Mar 3, 2017 at 5:45pm PST Is Garoppolo saying peace out to his Patriots family? Is he simply acknowledging how much he enjoys being in New England? Who knows? Things seemed safe for Garoppolo on Wednesday,

Patriots Reportedly Still Open To Trading Jimmy Garoppolo For Right Offer

Share this: It turns out Jimmy Garoppolo’s days with the New England Patriots could be numbered after all. Just a day after ESPN’s Adam Schefter adamantly reported Garoppolo “is not going to be traded” by the Pats, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot painted a very different picture Thursday, citing a league source. In fact, it appears a trade still is an option for New England, although with one major stipulation. Substantial trade talks apparently already have started, as the source told Cabot there is a “preliminary offer” from one team, and a second team is expected to make a bid for Garoppolo, too. A first-round pick is among the assets the Patriots are looking for in such a trade, according to Cabot. The Cleveland Browns are among the teams
