Share this: The Bruce Cassidy era in Boston is off to a nice start. The Bruins are 2-0-0 since Cassidy took over as interim head coach when Claude Julien was fired last Tuesday, but his toughest test is Sunday night at TD Garden when the B’s host the first-place Montreal Canadiens. Carey Price is expected to be the Habs’ starting goaltender, and he’s pretty much owned the Bruins throughout his career with a 24-8-4 record and a .924 save percentage. However, he’s struggled mightily in four February games. Price has a poor .875 save percentage with 13 goals allowed in those matchups. Price’s road doesn’t get any easier Sunday, as the Bruins have scored four or more goals in six of their last seven games. Boston is

Tuukka Rask To Start 12th Straight Game Saturday Vs. Maple Leafs
Share this: The Boston Bruins have gotten their money’s worth with goalie Tuukka Rask this season. The B’s have relied heavily on the All-Star goaltender, as Rask has started in net for 43 of the team’s 54 games. Rask’s workload will continue Saturday, as he’s expected to be between the pipes for the 12th straight game when the Bruins take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Head coach Claude Julien is mindful of Rask’s usage, but understands that when it comes to fighting for a playoff spot, you have to go with your best option. Colin Miller Makes Ridiculous Save In Bruins’ Win Over Lightning
Share this: The Boston Bruins played the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 0-0 tie after the first period Tuesday night thanks to an incredible play by defenseman Colin Miller. Lightning forward Alex Killorn slapped a shot off of B’s netminder Tuukka Rask, and it was centimeters from crossing the goal line before Miller made a miraculous save. The Bruins would go on to defeat the Lightning 4-3, their third consecutive victory. Check out Miller’s unbelievable play in the DCU Save of the Day video above. Thumbnail photo via Timothy T. Tuukka Rask Returns To Practice After Leaving Thursday’s Game With Injury
Share this: The Boston Bruins lost a tough one in Nashville on Thursday night, but the bigger concern was the status of goalie Tuukka Rask. Rask was forced to leave the game in the first period after taking a puck to the neck. However, he returned to practice Friday and said it wasn’t as bad as it looked. To hear more from Rask, as well as head coach Claude Julien, check out the clip above from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United Bank. More Stories Source link
Berkshire Bank Hockey Night In New England: Projected Bruins-Blues Lineups
Share this: The Boston Bruins continue their four-game road trip Tuesday night in St. Louis against a very good Blues team. One of St. Louis’ biggest strengths is its special teams. The Blues rank seventh in power-play percentage and fifth in penalty killing. This Blues squad also has plenty of offensive firepower and ranks ninth in goals scored per game. They are led by first-ling winger Vladimir Tarasenko, who ranks fourth in the NHL in scoring with 43 points and fifth in goals with 20. The Bruins don’t have the skill and forward depth to win a high-scoring game with the Blues, so the B’s need a strong performance from goaltender Tuukka Rask. He’s 3-2-3 with a .919 save percentage and a 2.32 GAA
Bruins Score Big Win Vs. Panthers But Still Have Room To Improve
Share this: The Boston Bruins rebounded from Tuesday night’s loss to the New York Islanders with a 3-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. The B’s got goals from Frank Vatrano, Patrice Bergeron, and David Backes, while Tuukka Rask was stellar in net with 29 saves. “I thought we handled it well, but we can handle it better,” coach Claude Julien told NESN’s Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley on “Bruins Overtime Live.” “Overall, I thought we had a decent game and a pretty good game against a team there that thought the game was just as important as we did.” Hear more from Julien in the video above.
