Share this: Walt Weiss will not return for a fifth season as Colorado Rockies manager. Weiss stepped down from his position as Colorado’s skipper, according to a statement released Monday by the Rockies. His contract expired at the conclusion of the 2016 season. The Rockies went 283-365 in his four seasons at the helm. They went 75-87 and finished in third place in the National League West this season, representing their best finish since Weiss took over before the 2013 campaign. Walt Weiss told me that he met yesterday with #Rockies owner Dick Monfort about his strained relationship with GM Jeff Bridich. — Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) October 3, 2016 Weiss said the relationship “wasn’t healthy, wasn’t productive.” He discussed possible compromises w/Monfort, but ultimately stepped down. —
