Vinales was operating in seventh, and attacking Danilo Petrucci, when he was hit from behind by Morbidelli’s Petronas Yamaha at Turn 7 on the ultimate lap of the Termas de Rio Hondo race.
The conflict eradicated each riders, with Petrucci narrowly avoiding being caught up within the melee.
Morbidelli admitted that he had been carrying an excessive amount of velocity on the time of the crash, a results of getting a tow from each Vinales’ manufacturing facility Yamaha and Petrucci’s Ducati.
“I was pushing to try to reach at least sixth position, I didn’t want to overtake anybody there,” stated Morbidelli. “I simply arrived in Turn 7 with a double slipstream.
“I used to be attempting to cease, however me arriving with double slipstream velocity and Maverick, who was handed by Petrucci and attempting to chop the road to overhaul him again.
“I arrived a bit too fast, and he slowed down a bit more, and these two things didn’t go well together.”

Vinales baffled by lack of tempo
