There is still a chance to buy tickets for UEFA EURO 2016’s opening match at Stade de France on 10 June between the hosts and Romania.
The second phase of ticket sales on EURO2016.com includes 800,000 tickets reserved for supporters of the 24 competing teams, while a public portal that allows fans to apply for any match in each of the ten host cities is also open.
Opening matches have produced plenty of drama since the final tournament group stage was added in 1980. Who could forget Michel Platini’s winner for France against Denmark the last time they hosted the championship in 1984? Or Alan Shearer striking for England against Switzerland at Wembley 12 years later?
