Deadline For Patriots To Tag Dont’a Hightower Is Quickly Approaching

Share this: The New England Patriots cannot to meet with Patrick Dye, Dont’a Hightower’s agent, at the NFL Scouting Combine before determining whether to franchise or transition tag the free-agent linebacker. That’s because the deadline to tag a free agent is Wednesday at 4 p.m., the same day the combine opens in Indianapolis, and Bill Belichick doesn’t exactly come off as a procrastinator or spur-of-the-moment type guy. The Patriots undoubtedly have been deep in thought on this matter since they failed to reach a contract extension with Hightower before the 2016 season began. If the Patriots still can’t extend Hightower before Wednesday, they must make a decision whether or not to franchise or transition tag the linebacker by 4 p.m. If the Patriots choose not to

NHL Rumors: Wild Overpay To Acquire Martin Hanzal From Coyotes In Trade

Share this: The Minnesota Wild own the best record in the Western Conference, and they got a jump on Wednesday’s NHL trade deadline by making a move Sunday night. The Wild acquired centers Martin Hanzal and Ryan White from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a valuable collection of draft picks. ARIZ is receiving a first-rounder, a second-rounder and a conditional pick that can become a second. MIN is all-in — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) February 27, 2017 It's a 2017 first-round pick going from Minny to AZ for Hanzal, 2018 2nd and the conditional pick is 2019. — Craig Custance (@CraigCustance) February 27, 2017 That’s a steep price to give up for a 30-year-old veteran and a fourth-line forward. That said, Hanzal should provide the Wild with depth, scoring and

Richard Sherman Reveals Message From Tom Brady While Posting Jersey Collection

Share this: Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has a game-worn Tom Brady jersey. And no, it’s not THAT jersey, so feel cross him off the list of suspects. Sherman posted an Instagram picture of his collection of game-worn jerseys exchanged with other NFL players, and included was a home jersey of the New England Patriots quarterback. The sleeve of an Odell Beckham, Jr. jersey obstructs Brady’s full message to Sherman, but from what we can see, it says, “RS – I’M STILL … YOU ARE THE BEST!” Brady is 1-2 in his career against the Seahawks since Sherman was drafted in 2011. Of course, that win was in Super Bowl XLIX. Brady and Sherman shook hands after that game. Sherman caused a stir after the Seahawks beat

If Daytona 500 Was Any Evidence, It Could Be Long NASCAR Season

Share this: After an action-packed Daytona 500, we can’t help but wondering what the heck is going on. Kurt Busch took his first 500 victory during Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race, but finishing the race at all arguably was just as impressive a feat. When Busch crossed the finish line, there were just 25 cars, and hardly any of NASCAR’s big-ticket drivers, remaining on track. Veterans such as Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth, Danica Patrick, Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski, all of whom were running well at the time, were taken out in one of the several big wrecks. For many NASCAR fans, the Daytona 500 probably felt like déjà vu, as Saturday’s Xfinity Series race had an even higher attrition

Isaiah Thomas’ Unbelievable Journey Soon Could Earn Him Hefty Contract

Share this: Isaiah Thomas could go from the last pick of the 2011 NBA Draft to a $179 million contract. Not bad, eh? Thomas will be in for quite the raise when his contract ends after the 2017-18 season, and he’s certainly earned it. The 28-year-old point guard quickly is becoming a household name throughout the NBA, and he’s in the midst of an MVP-worthy season for the Boston Celtics with his 29.7 points per game. So it’s safe to say the $6.26 million he’s owed next season will be a lot lower than what he’ll likely receive in free agency following the 2017-18 campaign. The Celtics and Thomas do have a few options on how they get to that point, though, and USA TODAY

Red Sox’s Offense Has Strong Day In Spring Training Win Vs. Twins

Share this: It’s still extremely early in spring training, but the Boston Red Sox’s offense had an encouraging outing Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. After only recording two hits Friday in a 3-2 loss to the New York Mets, the Red Sox tallied 13 in an 8-7 win over the Twins at JetBlue Park. Hear what Red Sox manager John Farrell said about the game in the video from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United Bank, above. More Stories Source link
