Patriots Mailbag: Defense Can Officially Shut Up Critics Vs. Steelers

Share this: The New England Patriots’ defense still seems offended by midseason criticism. They have a chance to silence all detractors this week. The Patriots’ defense finished topped the NFL in points allowed, but they also played the easiest schedule. Here’s the full list of quarterbacks the Patriots faced this season: Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Tannehill, Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, Trevor Siemian, Landry Jones, Carson Palmer, Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick, Matt Moore, Brock Osweiler, Charlie Whitehurst, Jared Goff, Cody Kessler, EJ Manuel and Terrelle Pryor. That is, uh, not strong. Russell Wilson is by far the best quarterback on that list, he had a down season, and that’s the only game the Patriots lost when they didn’t have a rookie quarterback with a thumb injury under

Courtney Lee Says Wizards Coach On Floor Distracted Him During Final Play

Share this: Courtney Lee is crying foul after the New York Knicks’ loss to the Washington Wizards, but not for anything the Wizards players did on the court. The Knicks needed a 3-pointer to tie the score on their final possession Thursday night, and Lee appeared to have a chance when Carmelo Anthony found him open in the corner. But rather than take the shot, Lee pump-faked and drove before passing the ball back out. It wasn’t a smart play, as New York didn’t even get a shot up to take a 113-110 loss. But after the game, Lee made an interesting claim: that Wizards assistant coach Sidney Lowe distracted him by tricking the Knicks guard into thinking he was a player. “I thought it

Thomas appreciated the love, but expressed an issue he had with the game. @NBA2K appreciate the love but damn Can you make me more realistic in the game? Like be able to get a shot off in the paint lol. — Isaiah Thomas (@Isaiah_Thomas) January 19, 2017 Thomas does have a legitimate gripe. Aside from being a terrific 3-point shooter, he has shown on countless occasions his ability to drive to the basket and score in the paint. IT

Malcolm Butler Has A Lot Riding On Playoff Matchup With Antonio Brown

Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler has already proven he won’t be another Larry Brown, Timmy Smith or David Tyree. Now it’s time to show he’s an elite cornerback. Butler successfully transitioned from unlikely Super Bowl hero to one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015 and earned a second-team All-Pro nod in 2016 thanks to some dominant stretches with four interceptions this summer. Still, Butler had issues at times in 2016, like when he allowed over 130 yards to the Dolphins in Week 2 and over 100 yards and two touchdowns to the New York Jets in Week 12. Butler locked down the majority of his opponents this season,
