Miguel Montero’s Grand Slam Lifts Cubs To NLCS Game 1 Win Over Dodgers

Share this: These Chicago Cubs are different. Ever since winning the 1908 World Series, the Cubs have found countless ways to leave their fans heartbroken, and it appeared they were in for more of the same Saturday night when the Los Angeles Dodgers tied Game 1 of the National League Championship Series in the top of the eighth inning. But, like we said, these Cubs aren’t your father’s or grandfather’s Cubs. Chicago came right back in the bottom of the eighth and took the lead for good with back-to-back home runs en route to an 8-4 victory over L.A. at Wrigley Field. The first of those homers was a grand slam, courtesy of pinch-hitter Miguel Montero. Dexter Fowler followed that up for good measure with a homer of

Zach Britton Can’t Help But Laugh At Auction For ‘Game-Used’ Jersey From Wild Ca…

Share this: In case you haven’t heard, Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter didn’t put in star closer Zach Britton during their American League Wild Card game loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. It’s been a running joke for social media throughout the Major League Baseball postseason now, but the Orioles accidentally added to it recently on their auction website. The O’s are auctioning off player jerseys from that game, and you’ll see why Britton’s is a little funny. And the best part is Britton got a kick out of it himself. Britton’s jersey was by far the hottest commodity, too, as the highest bid was over $2,000 as of Saturday afternoon. Thumbnail photo via Evan Habeeb/USA TODAY Sports Images More Stories Source link

Francisco Lindor’s Home Run Breaks Scoreless Tie, Hands Indians ALCS Game 1

Share this: Corey Kluber and Marco Estrada did their damnedest to make sure their opponents remained off the scoreboard Friday night in Game 1 of the ALCS. The Cleveland Indians’ ace was just one pitch better. Toronto Blue Jays starter Marco Estrada surrendered a two-run home run to Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor to break a scoreless tie in the sixth inning of Game 1. It proved to be the only runs The Tribe would need Friday, and the only runs either team would score in Cleveland’s 2-0 victory. Let’s just say The Land was very excited. Why Bengals’ A.J. Green Probably Won’t Torch Patriots In Week 6 Matchup

Share this: A.J. Green has made a lot of NFL defenders look pretty silly in his NFL career, and it’ll be up to the New England Patriots to make sure their names aren’t added to that list Sunday. The Pats take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6, and as NESN.com’s Doug Kyed pointed out on “NESN Sports Today,” containing Green is one of the most important things New England’s defense will have to do this week. Check out more from Kyed in the video from NST, presented by People’s United Bank, in the video above. More Stories Source link

Trevor Bauer Injures Finger Playing With Drone; Indians Must Reshuffle Rotation

Share this: Trevor Bauer just couldn’t put down his drone, and it might cost his team dearly. The Cleveland Indians announced Friday that Bauer — the Game 2 starter for the American League Championship Series — would miss his his start due to a laceration to his pinkie finger on his throwing hand. Poll: Could The 2007-08 Celtics Take Down Warriors’ Current ‘Superteam’?

Share this: The Golden State Warriors are taking the idea of an NBA “superteam” to a whole new level, and the rest of the league isn’t too happy about it. Paul Pierce was the latest to sound off about Kevin Durant’s decision to sign with the Warriors this offseason, making them the clear favorites to win the 2017 NBA title after posting an NBA-record 73 wins last season. Those comments didn’t sit well with Golden State’s Draymond Green, who fired back at Pierce on Thursday. Their bickering got us thinking: Can the Warriors be the best superteam of all time, or would a team like Pierce’s 2007-08 Boston Celtics give them a run for their money? That Celtics team, after all, went 66-16 and won
