Great Skirt for us not-so-young runners, June 12, 2012

Like other reviewers, I had tried on many running skirts. I love the look but even though I wear a size 4, I have heavy legs and the compression shorts would aways ride up. I decided to try one of these with the 7 inch shorts, and I love it! Love the length and the coverage! And the shorts don’t ride up. Love the big zippered pocket as well as the pockets on the compression shorts. As a marathon runner I’m all about pockets, and these hold plenty of GUs and other supplies. I too have had ladies stop me at the gym and while running to ask me where I got my skirt. I have the black vinyl print and am going to get another in plain black.

After trial (and expensive) error,…I finally found a running skirt that lives up to all that it promises. I’ve even bought from Athleta and those skirts, as cute and flattering as they are still cause chafing and the built-in shorts ride up.

I read the reviews for this brand but was still doubtful but ended up buying these as this would be my “last great hope” of ever being able to wear a running skirt without suffering from chafing thighs or constantly pulling the built-in shorts down & back in place to prevent said chafing. These did the trick! I’ve gotten so many compliments on the funky pattern on this and after just running the Austin LIVESTRONG 1/2 marathon in this with 20,000 other runners…I could spot myself easily in the crowd (from event photos) because I didn’t see a single other runner wearing my skirt! I was able to put this skirt on, pull up a pair of leggings over the built-in shorts (& it still look figure flattering) to keep my legs warm until it was race time, easily shed off the extra layer of leggings without a need to change. This skirt stayed exactly in place the entire race. No chafing, no bike short legs riding up, no skirt waist riding up or falling down, the built-in shorts seem to be the perfect length to cover a good portion of the upper part of your legs to not only prevent chafing but to also not show off any of the upper thigh cellulite that some of us women worry about someone seeing and may stop some of us from ever considering running in a skirt. This shows just enough leg to make you look feminine, give you a “youthful” look but still allow you to still feel covered, comfortable and not so body-conscience that some skirts and leggings may leave you feeling.

From now on, if I’m going to invest in a sport skirt, this is the only brand I will trust. I can’t wait to see what other patterns & styles will come out soon!

Love this skort – the length is great, finally a pair of shorts underneath that stay put no matter what, great zippered pocket in back, comfortable wide waist, really a great skort. But, need to pass along that after buying the gray version, came back for Red Play Kiss print, and the shorts underneath are MUCH tighter, so much that I regretfully had to return (and the skirt part fit well, so I couldn’t just size up). A visit to the Skirt Sports website found a note that both this print and the other new ocean print have tighter-fitting shorts, so it wasn’t my imagination (or delish pasta the night before).

Amazon shipping super fast as always, and their return process simple (lots of clothing items have free return shipping)
