Auburn Sponsoring A Car At Talladega
What you see here is the design of a car that NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip will be running at Talladega, Alabama later this month. As you can see, this paint scheme features the colors and logo of Auburn University and is a tribute to their 2011 National Championship football team. Some alumni were concerned over what a something like this might cost, but my inside sources tell me that those folks need not worry as this sponsorship shouldn’t affect the team’s payroll one bit.
Unfunny April Fools Jokes (?): Auburn sponsoring Darrel Waltrip at Talladega?
Unless I hear otherwise I'm calling bull on this one. Auburn's official website is reporting that Michael Waltrip's #15 Toyota will feature an Auburn-themed paint scheme for the April 17 Aaron's 500 at Talladega. The date on the press release being April 1, 2010 makes me a little suspicious. Then again, the press release also reports that Auburn head football coach Gene Chizik will be serving in the role of Grand Marshal for the race. And al.com and the Orlando Sentinel are reporting on the story as fact. So I'm just going to file this under the "I'll believe it when I see it" file. (via Orlando Sentinel, al.com)

NASCAR: Carl Edwards only has two real options for 2012 – Roush-Fenway Racing or Joe Gibbs Racing.
As the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season continues to roll on, one rumor that been gaining steam over the last few weeks has been, who is Carl Edwards going to driving for in 2012? Every year in NASCAR, we see these same rumors fly, its called silly season and basically, its where will a driver end up driving in the next season. In 2007, it was Dale Earnhardt Jr., which ended at Hendrick Motorsports, in 2008, it was Tony Stewart on the move to his own team, Stewart-Haas Racing. Even more, in 2009, it was Jamie McMurray which ended up at EGR and of course last year (2010), it was Kasey Kahne that right now is at Red Bull
