Iannone, Pirro, Dovizioso top opening session

Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) was the quickest man in this morning’s Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley FP1 session, the Italian shooting to the top of the time sheets on his final run to go 0.550 clear. Ducati Team test rider Michele Pirro led for most of the session, he finished P2, with his teammate for this weekend Andrea Dovizioso making it a 1-2-3 for the Italians at their home Grand Prix. Bring it on home: Bagnaia, Baldassarri and Pasini reload

The man chasing Championship leader Bagnaia could have something to say about that, however. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Miguel Oliveira is, despite some tougher races so far, second in the standings and looking for his first win of the year after ending 2017 with three on the bounce. His teammate Brad Binder has some serious pace, too, and KTM will want to hit back against Kalex. Then there’s Xavi Vierge fresh from his stunning ride through the field in France, with the Spaniard forced to start from the back after a technical problem and then rounding out the top five. With the pace to do that from the back, what could Vierge do starting from the front? Source link

Rabat discharged from hospital, aiming to race at Mugello

"We have already left the hospital and everything has been very positive, both the care received at the Circuit and here at Dexeus, Dr. Charte and Dr. Mir have treated me very well,” says Rabat. “Yesterday we thought it would be very difficult to get to Mugello, because they would have to operate, but this morning we had other tests and we will spend the week with the arm in plaster. Next Tuesday we will have new tests. This year we are doing very well, we are very competitive and we will try to reach the best possible. I want to thank for all the support and encouragement I have received since the accident.” Source link

British Talent Cup: Reset for Round 2

There were some key names who will be looking to bounce back, however. They are headed by Rory Skinner who, like Seabright, suffered some drama before lights out - starting from the back and crossing the line in P10. Max Cook was another who has showed good pace so far but didn’t get much recompense after crashing out of the leading group in Race 1, and Cameron Horsman was another who suffered some early drama. Arenas victorious in drama filled Moto3™ race

And that's just the start, with all the drama coming in the final laps of the race. One of the biggest headlines was Championship leaders Marco Bezzecchi (Redox PrustelGP) and Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) – the two leaders for most of the race – crashing with just one corner to go. Bezzecchi, after being passed by Fabio Di Giannanotonio (Del Conca Gresini Moto3), highsided trying to cut back through on his compatriot. Martin, right behind Bezzecchi in third, had nowhere to go – the Spaniard crashed out of a podium position. Source link

Marquez, Dovi and Viñales split by less than a tenth

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) took over at the top in FP1 for the HJC Helmets Grand Prix de France on his final lap, just deposing Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) after the Italian had done the same to Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP). Viñales was first to set a real flier as he pulled almost half a second clear, but ‘DesmoDovi’ and reigning World Champion Marquez reeled him to end the session within just 0.067. Marquez also tried a new aero fairing, after having concentrated on aerodynamics a lot in testing in Jerez and Mugello. Source link
