The third day of the second Yamaha VR46 Master Camp had an unusual start: instead of heading to the gym, the students were invited to visit VR46‘s headquarters to take part in a theoretical course taught by Sky Racing Team VR46‘s Technical Director and Crew Chief Pietro Caprara. The riders were asked to head straight upstairs to Valentino Rossi‘s office, where they immediately noticed the #46 YZR-M1 on display there. Throughout the class, that covered topics such as wheelbase, chassis, trail, offset, fork angle and swingarm angle, the Doctor‘s bike was used to illustrate how to properly set up a bike for racing. Pedrosa – the 8th wonder of the world
I don’t think there is any doubt that some early but inevitable teething issues in the new Michelin era impacted more on Pedrosa than his rivals. Loris Baz’s spectacular top gear crash over the finish line in the first test of the year in Sepang, which was eventually diagnosed as a puncture, had people fretting. And when Redding’s rear tyre fell apart in practice in Argentina in FP4 that led to an enforced pit stop in the race on safety grounds, Michelin was forced to make harder tyres to build some safety margin into its selection. The harder the tyres got, the harder it became for Pedrosa to be fast. Source link
Bautista: "The top ten was the goal!"
Alvaro Bautista (P10): “I am happy because we rode a good race and had a good weekend. We knew that, despite going through to Q2, it would be a hard battle to get into the top ten and that is our goal. I started well, but in the second lap I lost a few positions because of contact with another rider, so I had to push hard to come back. Then, in the first laps, I had a strange feeling with the rear tyre. We don't know why, but the bike slid around a lot. Then the situation went back to normal and I was able to maintain a good pace. I battled with Bradl and Petrucci, but once I
RFME Copa de España: Flat Track back in Barcelona
Oliver Brindley (Kawasaki Noyes Camp) won't be traveling to the Canudas Ranch to defend his fifth position in the general classification. The Brit injured himself in the final in Madrid and will come back to competition in the final date of the British dirt track championship (DTRA), which is also set to see lights out this weekend. Gerard Bailo (Suzuki Catala), Adrian Garin (Alonso Racing Team), Guillermo Cano (ESR Bikes), Jordi Casas (Racing 19) and Josep Piedra (Berga Offroad) are the men behind him in the standings as they stand, completing the top ten. Baz to miss Misano
Xavi Fores: “I'm very happy that Avintia Racing have given me this opportunity. I'm sure it's going to be a great experience. My intention is just to enjoy it as much as I can, leave pressure at home and not go out there with anything to prove, because it's a completely different bike to what I've ridden so far. We need to be aware that everything is going to be new to me and I just want to enjoy it! As with every rider, the chance to get on a MotoGP bike is gratifying, and I think this weekend I will have a great experience. It will be important to not make any mistakes and to not hurt myself because
Viñales: "Today, we did it!"
Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) had shown great pace all weekend at the British GP and lined up in third on the grid after carrying his dry form into a wet qualifying session. With an initial lead in the red-flagged first start, Viñales again took to the front on the restart and proved in a league of his own. The Spaniard pulled away from the pack lap after lap, with no one able to match him and eventually crossed the line over 3 seconds clear - having at one stage stretched the gap to over 4 seconds at the front. It was a first win for the 2013 Moto3™ world champion in MotoGP™, and the first win for a Suzuki
Pedrosa: "Dry track time was exactly what I needed"
It has been a more difficult start to the 2016 season for Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) than the Spaniard is used to, but progress began well in Silverstone at the British GP as Pedrosa found more positive feeling straightaway on the long, demanding 5.9km circuit. Getting in a lot of dry running as the worst of the weather struck Moto2™ instead, Silverstone race lap record holder Pedrosa is happy with his initial feeling in the UK as he looks to get back on the podium; only a tenth behind teammate Marc Marquez after Day 1.
