Fernando Alonso has his heart set on landing a drive with a top Formula One team in 2018. But despite the fact that he’s performing as good, if not better than he ever has, those teams might not want him. Alonso’s most likely destinations next year are Mercedes-AMG Petronas and Scuderia Ferrari, or at least, that was the case prior to Thursday. Rio Olympics look to IOC for help with $40 million debt
RIO DE JANEIRO — Almost a year after the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Brazilian organizers are asking for help from the International Olympic Committee to satisfy creditors who are still owed about 130 million reals ($40 million).A spokesman for the Rio organizing committee says officials will meet next week at IOC offices in Switzerland. Rio spokesman Mario Andrada says the IOC “might help us in the dialogue to get the government to pay.”However, the IOC was cautious in a statement on Wednesday to The Associated Press, saying it needs “reliable and understandable information from those in charge, something which regrettably at the present time we do not have.”Contractually, host cities and countries are obligated to pay Olympic debts.Kelly Tan, left,

Red Sox’s Rick Porcello Turned In Encouraging Outing Vs. Rangers
Rick Porcello has had a rough 2017 campaign to this point, but he might have turned a corner Monday night. The Boston Red Sox right-hander tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out three and walking three in Boston’s 7-5 win over the Texas Rangers. Porcello showed good command and downward action on his sinker, the best pitch in his arsenal, and was able to baffle the Rangers’ offense for most of the night. Kenley Jansen Blasts Dodgers Fans For Not Voting Players To All-Star Game
The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the best teams in Major League Baseball, but they won’t have any starters on the field for the 2017 All-Star Game. And Kenley Jansen has something to say to Dodgers fans about that. The Los Angeles closer will be at the All-Star Game in Miami on July 11, along with starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw, shortstop Corey Seager and outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger. Celtics Save $8 Million In Cap Space By Waiving Center Tyler Zeller
The Boston Celtics needed to clear cap space as they try to make a big splash in free agency, and Tyler Zeller became a cap casualty Sunday. The Celtics announced they had waived the veteran center on Twitter. Zeller, who saw his role reduced with the addition of Al Horford, was set to be paid $ 8 million if he was not waived by Sunday. Zeller spent the past three seasons with the Celtics after coming over from the Clevland Cavaliers in a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets in July of 2014. Kyle Larson Flies Over Top Of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Late In Race At Daytona
Kyle Larson was one of a handful of drivers vying for the lead of Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway, but his day quickly came to an end after a small misstep. Larson was on the back straight with eight laps remaining in the Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca-Cola and moved to the outside as he approached Turn 3. He hadn’t completely cleared Ricky Stenhouse Jr., though, so the two touched, ultimately sending Larson’s No. 42 over the hood of Stenhouse’s No. 17.
