We tend to call way too many sports plays “incredible”, but we really can’t think of anything else to say about what the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Taj Gibson did at the halftime buzzer Thursday night. The Portland Trail Blazers went for the old lob pass off an inbounds play to try to get one last shot off before the half, but the ball ended up in Gibson’s hands instead. Since there were two seconds remaining, Gibson launched a shot of his own, probably just for the heck of it. But his mile-high heave turned into one of the luckiest shots you’ll ever see. Oh. My. Carlos Asuaje’s Mom Tweets At Padres To Check On Her Son During Game
All of our parents embarrass us at some point in our lives, but it usually doesn’t happen during a Major League Baseball game. Second baseman Carlos Asuaje, who was among the players the Boston Red Sox shipped to San Diego for closer Craig Kimbrel ahead of the 2016 season, started for the Padres on Wednesday in their split-squad spring training game against the Colorado Rockies. The 25-year-old still is pretty new to the big leagues — he made his MLB debut and appeared in just seven games last season — so his mother apparently has been keeping a close eye on him. The Boston Bruins beat the Arizona Coyotes 4-1 in their first game back home at TD Garden on Tuesday night, and interim head coach Bruce Cassidy credits his team’s ability to regroup after a long West Coast road trip. Red Sox Have Options At Shortstop In Xander Bogaerts’ Absence
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts played his final spring training game Monday, going 2-for-3 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Bogaerts will depart for Seoul, South Korea on Tuesday where he will meet up with Team Netherlands for the first round of the World Baseball Classic. In his absence, the Red Sox will look to give a few players time at shortstop, including Brock Holt and Marco Hernandez. Here’s What All 10 F1 Teams’ Liveries Will Look Like For 2017 Season
After an eventful off-season, Formula One finally is back. Preseason testing begins Monday, but the sport has been abuzz for almost a week now, as teams unveiled their new cars. The new technical regulations that are being introduced for the 2017 season will supposedly result in cars that are between four and five seconds quicker per lap. While we won’t know whether that’s the case for sure until qualifying for the Ausralian Grand Prix, after seeing each teams’ 2017-spec challenger, it’s clear the new regulations have led to more-aggressive looking cars. NBA Rumors: Cavs Were Nervous About Possible Celtics’ Blockbuster Trade
Despite being tied to a number of blockbuster trade rumors, the Boston Celtics made no moves at the NBA trade deadline. While this might have come as a disappointment to Celtics fans, it came as a sigh of relief to one of Boston’s Eastern Conference rivals: The Cleveland Cavaliers.
