Loui Eriksson Will Not Return to Bruins-Penguins Game After Taking Hit From Brooks Orpik
Loui Eriksson left the Bruins’ game against the Penguins on Thursday night after taking a huge hit from Pittsburgh defenseman Brooks Orpik in the first period and will not return. The hit occurred on Eriksson’s first shift of the game, and after taking a few seconds to compose himself on the ice, he skated toward the Bruins bench and headed to the locker room. The veteran winger missed five games due to a concussion earlier in the season when he took an illegal hit to the head from Buffalo Sabres forward John Scott. Eriksson has five goals and nine assists in 23 games in his first season in Boston.
