Cyrus Jones Downgraded To Out Due To Illness For Patriots’ Game Vs. Jets

We already know who one of the New England Patriots inactives will be for their Sunday matchup against the New York Jets.

The Patriots announced Saturday night that rookie cornerback Cyrus Jones had been downgraded to out for Sunday’s game due to an illness.

This won’t be the first time Jones has been inactive this season. He also didn’t play in three straight games following his ejection during the Pats’ 33-13 win over the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 9. The 2016 second-round pick has spent time as a kick and punt returner, too.

Unlike Jones, Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady, Chris Hogan, Julian Edelman and Martellus Bennett all traveled with the team to New York. Defensive end Jabaal Sheard also made the trip, according to the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe, citing a source, one week after being a mysterious healthy scratch against the San Francisco 49ers.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini provided the latest reports on Brady (knee) and Gronkowski (chest) earlier Saturday.

Kickoff for Sunday’s game is at 4:25 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium.
