Jose Fernandez, by all accounts, was as vibrant a personality off the field as he was on the mound. But for all his fame and bubbling stardom, he never took himself too seriously.
That wasn’t any more evident than in the message he recently gave a Miami Marlins fan just days before the 24-year-old All-Star ace of the Miami Marlins was tragically killed in a boat crash around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
The photo comes from arguably the most famous Marlins fan there is, the Marlins Man.
“Let’s never take ourselves too seriously,” Fernandez told Marlins Man last week, according to the caption on the photo, “it could all end tomorrow.”
He also tweeted this just over a year ago.
If that doesn’t give you goosebumps, we don’t know what will.
