SATURDAY

10:30 a.m.: Mack Brown’s impressive preseason wasn’t enough to keep him in Washington.

10 a.m.: More cuts are coming out of Washington.

9:30 a.m.: Defensive lineman Jerrell Powe started 16 games last season for the Houston Texans. He hoped to stick in Washington, but that apparently won’t happen.

Saturday, 9 a.m. ET: The Carolina Panthers kick things off by cutting a pair of hopefuls.

FRIDAY

11:30 p.m.: A few more moves were made Friday night.

6:30 p.m.: The roster moves still are coming in hot.

5:40 p.m.: There have been a lot of cuts over the past hour. Here are a few of the biggest ones:

4:50 p.m.: Two darlings of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series have been waived.

The Rams add another name to the “Hard Knocks” casualty list.

4:20 p.m.: The Denver Broncos cut running back Juwan Thompson, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

In bigger news, Denver also releases defensive end Henry Melton.

3:20 p.m.: Tennessee waives one of their backup running backs.

3:15 p.m.: The Colts cut D’Joun Smith, but Ian Rapoport reports Indianapolis will look to keep the defensive back.

2:30 p.m.: Jimmy Wilson fails to catch on with Cincinnati Bengals, who release the 30-year-old strong safety.

2:20 p.m.: The Titans reportedly have cut two more young players in cornerback B.W. Webb and Marqueston Huff.

12:45 p.m.: The Titans also let go offensive lineman Jeremiah Poutasi, ProFootballTalk.com’s Josh Alper reports, citing multiple reports.

Noon: The Tennessee Titans cut wide receiver Justin Hunter and running back Bishop Sankey.

11:45 a.m.: The cuts keep coming out of Buffalo. Add cornerback Sterling Moore to the list.

11:30 a.m.: The Buffalo Bills have cut offensive lineman Chris Martin, linebacker Manny Lawson and fullback Jerome Felton according to two insiders.

Lawson started 14 games for the Bills last season.

Felton started eight.

10:30 a.m.: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have cut sixth-round draft pick Danny Vitale, according to The Tampa Bay Times’ Greg Auman.

As is the case for this blog, it’s not where Vitale starts his career, it’s where and how he finishes that’s most important.

9:30 a.m. ET: The next day and a half will be fraught with anxiety around the NFL, as the deadline for roster cuts approaches.

Rosters currently stand at 75 players, but each of the 32 teams must trim them to 53 by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday. That means the dreams of 704 players will be dashed, at least for now, as they seek new employers ahead of Week 1.

Some cuts will fall into the category of “expected,” while others will come as complete surprises.

Join us right here throughout the next day or so, as we’ll provide breaking news about all notable NFL cuts.
