A person was critically injured Wednesday in a head-on automobile crash in northwest suburban North Barrington.
About 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a site visitors crash on Route 12 close to Timberlake Road and located an SUV and semi-truck severely broken, Lake County police stated.
A preliminary investigation discovered that the 2003 Mercedes-Benz SUV, pushed by a 44-year-old Palatine man, was headed north on Route 12 close to Timberlake Road when, for causes unknown, he crossed the grassy median and drove into oncoming site visitors, police stated. He struck a southbound semi-truck carrying a trailer, inflicting his SUV to roll right into a ditch.
The man was flown to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with important accidents, police stated.
Both southbound and northbound lanes have been closed till about four p.m., police stated.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Crash Investigations Unit is dealing with the case.
