“Within this year, we’re going to make some special things happen,” Webber told the Sacramento Bee.

It wasn’t that long ago when Chris Webber was distraught at the idea of playing for the Sacramento Kings after being traded by the then-Washington Bullets to the quiet California state capital.  But he became a part of one of the most exciting teams in the league when he teamed up with Jason Williams, Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic.

Because of the time Webber spent in Sacramento, he now has a special connection to the franchise and with its extremely loyal fanbase.

Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson told the Bee:

He’s going to play some role. He wants to be involved and we’re figuring out where the best place for him to be involved is.

It’s another positive step for the franchise who has been getting overwhelming love and support from fans as well as former players.
With Webber helping out, this team may yet figure out a way to raise the $ 300 million or so they need to come up with for a new arena.
