Share this: Julian Edelman is a two-time Super Bowl champion, but it looks like the New England Patriots wide receiver is trying to add another accolade to his résumé. Edelman took to Twitter on Thursday to give his pitch to EA Sports in an effort to grace the cover of “Madden 18.” In case you need a refresher, the photo Edelman used is a snapshot of his ridiculous catch in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LI, which helped the Patriots mount a historic comeback en route to a 34-28 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons. MLB Rumors: Reds Agree To Trade Brandon Phillips To Braves; Return ‘Minimal’
Brandon Phillips appears to be packing his bags after more than a decade in Cincinnati. The Reds have agreed to trade their longtime second baseman to the Atlanta Braves, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reported Sunday, citing a source. It’s unclear what Cincinnati will acquire in return, but FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal doesn’t expect it to be much. Rosenthal was the first to report the teams were close to a deal for Phillips, which is expected to be finalized Monday, per Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. Phillips was a staple of the Reds’ infield for 11 seasons, earning three All-Star nods over that span as one of Cincinnati’s most dependable ... NESN.com
Former Patriots Star Kevin Faulk Has No Problem With Son Playing Football
Dual-sport star Bo Jackson made headlines recently claiming he never would have played football had he known the severity of the health risks surrounding the game. While Jackson isn’t alone in this opinion, one former player doesn’t necessarily agree. Former New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk says he has no regrets when looking back on his career, and he also is comfortable with his son playing. While Faulk is aware of the dangers of the game, he believes teaching proper fundamentals can go a long way in preventing these issues. To hear more from Faulk, check out the video above from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United... NESN.com
Steve Kerr Admits He Used Marijuana For Back Pain, Hopes Leagues Change Rules
Share this: The campaign for allowing the use of marijuana in professional sports got another advocate Friday. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, in an appearance on CSN Bay Area’s “The Warriors Insider” podcast, admitted he recently smoked marijuana as a way to treat his chronic back pain. “I guess maybe I could even get in some trouble for this, but I’ve actually tried (marijuana) twice during the last year and a half when I’ve been going through this pain, this chronic pain that I’ve been dealing with,” Kerr told host Monte Pool, as transcribed by ESPN.com. “… I don’t even know if I’m subject to a drug test or any laws from the NBA, but I tried it, and it didn’t help
Kate Upton Rips MLB Writers For Justin Verlander Not Winning Cy Young Award
Share this: Model Kate Upton clearly didn’t agree with the Baseball Writers’ Association of America voters’ choice for the American League Cy Young Award. Justin Verlander, Upton’s fiancee, got the most first-place votes with 14, but Boston Red Sox right-hander Rick Porcello had five more overall points because two writers left Verlander out of their top five. Both pitchers had strong but not rock-solid cases to win the award, which probably is why it was so close in the end. But Upton clearly isn’t happy with second place for the Detroit Tigers ace based on her Twitter. You can see how she responded in the tweets, which we took screen shots of in case they are deleted, below. There are some swears, though. (Insert fire emoji here.) Thumbnail photo
