Alex Smith’s season is in danger of being over after he suffered an ugly injury Sunday afternoon. The Washington Redskins quarterback was carted off the field in the third quarter of their Week 11 matchup against the Houston Texans. J.J. Watt and Kareem Jackson sacked Smith, but he went down awkwardly on his ankle. Right after the game it was announced he broke both his tibia and fibula. You can watch the video of the injury here, But be warned, it is gruesome. Many thought it looked like the injury Joe Theismann suffered on this exact date in 1985. The NFL Hall of Fame quarterback agreed. Smith waved to the crowd as

Ex-MLB GM Goes Off About Alex Cora Not Winning AL Manager Of The Year
Alex Cora guided the Red Sox to a franchise-record and Major League Baseball-best 108 wins in his first regular season as Boston’s manager. The Red Sox won the American League East. It earned Cora a new contract with Boston but not AL Manager of the Year honors, as the voters — members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America — instead sided with Athletics skipper Bob Melvin, who led Oakland to 97 regular-season victories and an AL wild-card spot. Jim Bowden found the voting to be “a joke.” The A’s shocked a lot of people with their success this season despite having the lowest Opening Day payroll in MLB, but Bowden, a forme... NESN.com
Red Sox Notes: Alex Cora Gushes Over Nathan Eovaldi’s Gutsy Game 3 Outing
The Boston Red Sox had everything lined up, but things don’t always go as planned. The Red Sox were set to start two of their workhorses in the first two games of the World Series at Dodger Stadium, with Rick Porcello getting the ball in Friday’s Game 3 followed by a Game 4 start Saturday for Nathan Eovaldi, who’s been stellar in the 2018 Major League Baseball playoffs. But thanks to arguably the wildest contest in the history of the Fall Classic, Eovaldi was forced to readjust on the fly, and he managed to do so and then some. Eovaldi was tabbed with the loss in the Red Sox’s 18-inning loss to the
Alex Cora Reveals Awesome Plan For Office Photo Collage Once Season Ends
The Boston Red Sox have won quite a bit this season, and manager Alex Cora has been keeping the memories in sight along the way — literally. Plenty has been made this season about Cora’s photo collage in his office. After each win this season, he has a framed photo from that game hung in his office. At this point there are 115 photos between the regular season and playoffs, and he and his team are hoping to add four more to the collection over the next week and a half. But when the season does end, whether it be with the Red Sox winning the World Series or falling to the Los
Why Alex Cora Believes Astros Cheating Allegations Helped Red Sox In ALCS
For most managers, the idea of another team sneaking someone onto the field to point a camera in their dugout would be, well, uncomfortable. But Alex Cora is not like most managers. The Houston Astros were caught sneaking a non-credentialed individual onto the field to record the Boston Red Sox dugout during the American League Championship Series. Many assumed the Astros were spying and/or sign-stealing, but it turns out they were just making sure the Red Sox weren’t the ones doing something fishy. Major League Baseball elected to not punish Houston over the incident, which also occurred during the American League Division Series against the Clevelan... NESN.com
Alex Bregman Denies Staring Down Joe Kelly After Game 1 Hit-By-Pitch
For a brief moment, it appeared as if the Joe Kelly Fight Club would make a comeback Saturday night at Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox reliever, who famously sparked a brawl with the New York Yankees by drilling Tyler Austin, inflicted similar pain on Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman by hitting him with a 100-mph fastball in the sixth inning in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. Bregman seemed to take immediate exception to the beaning, glaring at the mound in what most assumed was a staredown of Kelly. After the game, though, Bregman offered a different narrative of the tense moment, while
Alex Rodriguez Has Two Concerns About Red Sox’s World Series Chances
The Boston Red Sox own the best record in Major League Baseball, and they’ll therefore have home-field advantage throughout the postseason. To say expectations are high would be a major understatement. The Red Sox aren’t without their flaws, though, and former All-Star slugger Alex Rodriguez identified two concerns for Boston while discussing the upcoming MLB playoffs Friday with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. A-Rod, who acknowledged there’s a ton of pressure on the Red Sox, has questions about Chris Sale’s health and the overall postseason effectiveness of Boston’s starting pitchers. Sale, who spent time on the disabled list twice th... NESN.com
