It’s safe to say the Red Sox had an absolute blast Thursday night. Boston claimed the American League East with a win in the series finale over the New York Yankees and got to pop champagne bottles on their fiercest rival’s turf. To date, it would be tough to top the division-clinching win for the Red Sox this season. But given how things played out Friday night at Progressive Field, manager Alex Cora was of the belief that the 7-5 victory in the series opener against the Cleveland Indians was among the most entertaining of the season for his team. Boston received an encouraging start from Chris Sale, who continues to gain strength

Alex Cora, Red Sox Have Followed Consistent Plan In Dominant 2018 Season
The Boston Red Sox have been dialed in all season long. Alex Cora’s club has strung together win after win since the season began in late March, and the Sox locked down win No. 100 on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. After the win, the Red Sox manager noted that something clicked when the group first came together in Fort Myers, Fla., for spring training and they have been dedicated to being consistent each and every day. To hear from Cora, check out the “NESN Sports Today” video above, presented by People’s United Bank.
Bill Belichick Clarifies What Alex Guerrero’s Role With Patriots Is
Monday reignited some flames in the Alex Guerrero-Tom Brady-Bill Belichick saga. After losing privileges to travel with the New England Patriots last season, Guerrero, Brady’s trainer and business partner, was given them back, as evidenced by the fact he flew on the team plane last week en route to a preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. That led to questioning during Brady’s weekly hit on WEEI’s “Kirk and Callahan” on Monday, which after three questions led Brady to abruptly end the interview. For better or for worse, Guerrero has become an interesting figure surrounding the Patriots, with plenty about his direct involvement wi... NESN.com
Alex Cora Tips Cap To Phillies’ Bullpen After Red Sox’s 7-4 Loss
The Boston Red Sox were unable to complete a two-game sweep of the Phillies on Wednesday night, and it was due in large part to Philadelphia’s bullpen. The Red Sox had their opportunity to bury the Phillies early on, as they plated three runs in the third inning and had a chance to blow it open with bases loaded and no outs when Phillies manager Gabe Kapler went the bullpen. Hector Neris got out of the inning without allowing another run and the rest of the Phillies’ pen took it from there, allowing only one more run in Philadelphia’s 7-4 win at Citizens Bank Park.
Dustin Pedroia Injury: Alex Cora Shares ‘Positive’ Update On Second Baseman
Seldom has the news been good this season with regards to Dustin Pedroia’s health. The Boston Red Sox second baseman is working his way back from cartilage restoration surgery in his knee that he underwent shortly after the conclusion of last season. And after a three-game return in late May, Pedroia went back on the disabled list with inflammation. But Pedroia has been with the doctor that performed surgery in New York since Monday, and he sent a text message to Alex Cora on Tuesday that contained some positive news. “Pedey, he’s still with the doctor. Actually, I had a long text from him. It seems like they’re finding stuff out that... NESN.com
Red Sox Notes: Rick Porcello, Alex Cora React To Pitcher’s Three-Run Double
Show of hands: Entering Monday’s game, who had Rick Porcello as the Boston Red Sox’s most important offensive contributor? Of course, such a belief would have been nonsense in the first place, but coupled with the fact that the Sox were facing Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer, such a notion would’ve bordered the line of lunacy. But there it was, the Nats intentionally walked Jackie Bradley Jr. to load the bases and get to Porcello, and he responded by launching a ball to deep left field on an 0-2 count to empty the bases. Given the Red Sox ultimately won 4-3, it’s clear how important the double was to the eventual result of the
