Celtics Notes: Boston Gets Off To Good Start Following All-Star Break

Celtics Notes: Boston Gets Off To Good Start Following All-Star Break

Time can heal, and it appears to have done that for the Boston Celtics. At least it did on Friday night. The Celtics used a big second quarter and a fourth-quarter surge to create some separation between themselves and the Detroit Pistons, ultimately winning Friday’s game at Little Caesars Arena 110-98. With the win, Boston snapped its three-game losing streak that they took into the All-Star break, and the victory certainly felt like a refreshing change of pace after the ugly skid. But in many ways, Friday’s win certainly felt like a proverbial turning of the page given the things that went right that previously had been going wro... NESN.com

Paul George Selected To Replace DeMarcus Cousins In NBA All-Star Game

The decision was made by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver as George received the most coaches’ votes out of any player not initially selected to the All-Star Game. “Obviously, I would have liked to make it under better circumstance — because of an injury I got in,” George said, per ESPN. “But needless to say, I’m happy for this to be my ... The Los Angeles closer will be at the All-Star Game in Miami on July 11, along with starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw, shortstop Corey Seager and outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger. Third baseman Justin Turner and starter Alex Wood also could make the team as injury replacements, but Jansen is pretty ticked off that none of them will be starting. “I’ll say it loud and clear again: It’s the Dodger fans’ fault,” Jansen said, p... The Red Sox designated hitter delivered the goods again Sunday, hitting a two-run, opposite-field home run off Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jake Odorizzi to help lift Boston to a 4-0 win at Fenway Park. Big Papi’s towering blast gave him 22 homers at the All-Star break, an astonishing achievement for a 40-year-old DH who tallied a total of 23 homers during an injury-riddled 2012 season. Four years later, Ortiz somehow is playing some of the best baseball of his career, entering the...
