Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas Continues To Shine In Series Vs. Bulls Amid Adversity

No one knew how Isaiah Thomas was going to perform in the NBA playoffs. Just a day before the start of the postseason, the Boston Celtics point guard learned his 22-year-old sister had been killed as a result of a single-car crash in Washington. Thomas would take the floor the following night, and although the Celtics dropped Game 1 of their first-round series against the Chicago Bulls, Thomas’ 33 points in the contest were remarkably impressive. Since then, Thomas has continued to shine for the Celtics, who evened their series with the Bulls with a critical 104-95 win at the United Center on Sunday. Thomas once again paced the Celtics with 33 ... NESN.com

USA gymnastics president resigns amid sexual abuse scandal

INDIANAPOLIS — Steve Penny resigned as president of USA Gymnastics on Thursday following intensified pressure on the organization for its handling of sex abuse cases. The resignation came a week after the United States Olympic Committee’s board recommended to USA Gymnastics chairman Paul Parilla that Penny should step down. Penny offered his resignation during a previously scheduled board meeting on Thursday. “My decision to step aside as CEO is solely to support the best interests of USA Gymnastics at this time,” Penny said in a statement. USOC chairman Larry Probst said Penny’s decision “will hopefully allow USA Gymnastics to shift its attention to the future with a secure environment for its athletes and continued success in competition.” Penny joined USA Gymnastics in 1999 and

Michael Kopech, Reality TV Girlfriend Brielle Biermann Enjoy Bahamas Getaway

Share this: Michael Kopech has high expectations as he begins life with a new team, but he doesn’t seem too stressed about things. The Boston Red Sox dealt the 20-year-old pitching prospect to the Chicago White Sox in the trade that landed them Chris Sale. Amid the flurry of the offseason, though, Kopech has been taking it easy, most recently vacationing in the Bahamas with his girlfriend, Brielle Biermann. Biermann, the daughter of former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kroy Biermann, is a reality TV star on the Bravo show, “Don’t Be Tardy.” After the couple’s tropical getaway, Kopech will continue working to live up to his lofty potential — which the White Sox hope happens sooner rather than later. In the meantime, though, take your own

Does Clay Buchholz Deserve A Spot In Red Sox’s Rotation Amid Strong Stretch?

Clay Buchholz was just supposed to bridge the gap. But given the way he’s pitched over the last two weeks, the Boston Red Sox might have some decisions to make. Buchholz, who is filling in for the injured Steven Wright in Boston’s rotation, made his third consecutive start Tuesday. And for the third consecutive time, the right-hander put his team in a position to win, this time limiting the Tampa Bay Rays to one run over 6 1/3 innings while striking out nine in the Red Sox’s 2-1 win at Tropicana Field. To say Buchholz has had a disappointing 2016 season would be an understatement: He posted a 6.35 ERA record through his first

Say it ain’t so, Lionel Messi. The soccer superstar seemingly announced his retirement from international duty Sunday in the aftermath of Argentina’s loss to Chile in the 2016 Copa America final. Messi told reporters after the game he no longer wants to play for his country, as the pain of losing has become unbearable. “It’s a very hard moment for me to think about what happened,” Messi said, according to ESPN. “In the locker room after the game I thought the national team is over for me, this is not for me…” Messi played all 120 minutes in the final and missed his chance to score in the penalty-kick shootout. “It’s w...

Ronaldo urges Portugal to believe amid frustration

Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal captain[Breaking Luís Figo's Portugal appearance record] is a reason to be proud. It was a goal to be the most-capped international player and to be the national team's top scorer. But I'm a bit sad because this wasn't the way I wanted to break this record. We wanted to win. This was not how I envisaged it.We had a lot of chances and we did well, but we weren't able to finish. I also missed some chances – a penalty and some others. But that's part of football. We need to continue to believe, and once again
