Red Sox Notes: Dustin Pedroia Does It All In Boston’s Win Over Rangers
Share this: Dustin Pedroia did it all Monday night for the Boston Red Sox, and if you ask his manager, it might have been one of the second baseman’s best games in a Red Sox uniform. Pedroia went 3-for-5 with four RBI in the Red Sox’s 7-5 extra-inning win over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park, while making multiple key defensive plays behind Boston’s pitching staff. He got his night started with a two-run single in the second inning to give Boston its first lead. Then in the sixth inning, Pedroia came to plate with the game tied and bases loaded with two outs against Rangers reliever Tony Barnette. After a wild pitch scored a run to give Boston the lead, Pedroia
Red Sox Wrap: Royals Use Seventh-Inning Rally To Down Boston 4-2
Jackie Bradley Jr. has made numerous amazing catches for the Boston Red Sox, but this time he should have let the ball drop. The Red Sox and Kansas City Royals were deadlocked during the seventh inning Monday night when Drew Butera hit a laser to left-center field. Bradley, who had been shading toward right field, took off on a dead sprint when the ball left Butera’s bat, attempting to make another highlight-reel play. The talented center fielder left his feet but it was to no avail. The ball skipped past Bradley and rolled to the wall, allowing Butera to motor around to third base. The Royals took the lead one batter later and would

Herrera on the ball … even when he's notAnder Herrera was spotted more than once imploring his team-mates either to work back and defend and/or help the team regain their defensive shape (a Mourinho man if ever there was one). It is this awareness as much as his understated influence on the ball that made the man of the match stand out. Henrikh Mkhitaryan's answer when asked for his recollections of his goal revealed just how deep a thinker the Spaniard is even in the heat of battle. "To be honest, I shouldn't have been there," he said. "I should have been around the [edge
Jackie Bradley Jr. Working On Finding A Solution To Slump At The Plate
Share this: Boston Red Sox outfield Jackie Bradley Jr. is not in the lineup against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. Bradley is in a slump and is just two of his late 28 at the plate for the Red Sox. Bradley has been working closely with Red Sox hitting coach Chili Davis as he tries to get back to where he was in spring training. Davis said Bradley needs to get back to being calm in the batters box so he can read the ball effectively. Watch Fred Hoiberg Walk Out On Reporters After Isaiah Thomas Dribbling Question
Share this: BOSTON — Fred Hoiberg had some words to say about Isaiah Thomas’ ball-handling Wednesday night for the second straight game. Well, more like “word.” After Chicago’s 108-97 Game 5 loss to the Celtics at TD Garden, the Bulls coach was asked if he thought Boston guard Isaiah Thomas carried the ball during the contest. Given Hoiberg’s eye-opening remarks about Thomas’ dribbling (or lack thereof) after Game 4, it seemed like a fair question. But Hoiberg was having absolutely none of it. This Ball Sticking To Yadier Molina’s Chest Is Almost Too Weird To Believe
It took less than a week for Major League Baseball to provide its first wacky play of the season. In the seventh inning of the St. Louis Cardinals’ matchup with the Chicago Cubs, Cardinals pitcher Brett Cecil spiked a curveball in the dirt that catcher Yadier Molina blocked with his chest protector. Cubs hitter Matt Szczur swung and missed for strike three and took off for first base. Molina searched frantically for the baseball, only to make a shocking discovery: The ball was stuck to his chest. Molina’s chest protector essentially is flat, so there’s no way the ball got wedged in anywhere. That pretty much leaves one explana... NESN.com
