Rick Porcello picked up his 13th win of the season Saturday at Fenway Park, but he couldn’t have done so without a little help from his friends. Despite allowing four runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings, the right-hander picked up a victory thanks in large part to the Boston Red Sox’s 14-hit barrage in their 10-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. After the game, Porcello made sure to tip his hat to his offense, which has been a consistent force all season long. Red Sox Wrap: Bats Silenced In 3-0 Loss As Athletics’ Sean Manaea No-Hits Boston
The Oakland Athletics did what no team has done to the Red Sox in 25 years. A’s starter Sean Manaea threw the first no-hitter of the 2018 MLB season against the leagues’ best offense when they beat the Boston Red Sox, 3-0 Saturday night. He gave up two walks and the A’s did commit an error, but it’s the zero in the hit column that highlights the game. This was Oakland’s first no-hitter since Dallas Braden threw a perfect game on Mother’s Day in 2010. Chris Sale gave up three runs and struck out 10 batters, but Manaea was locked in from the get-go, only needing 108 pitches to secure the no-hitter for Oakland.
John Farrell Explains How Twins’ Adalberto Mejia Stymied Red Sox’s Bats
Share this: Adalberto Mejia isn’t a household name, but the Minnesota Twins starter sure pitched like an ace Wednesday night against the Boston Red Sox. The left-hander hurled 5 2/3 scoreless innings, only giving up five hits to go along with three strikeouts in the Twins’ 4-1 win over the Sox. After the game, Red Sox manager John Farrell credited Mejia for getting Boston’s batters to chase pitches, which kept it from getting anything going on offense. David Price Bats Ninth In Red Sox Lineup, Looks To Rebound Vs. Braves
On paper, David Price has an undefeated record as a member of the Boston Red Sox. In reality, he’s been a bit more mediocre. Boston’s prized offseason acquisition is 2-0 this season, though the team has gone just 2-2 in games he’s pitched. Most recently, Price got knocked around for eight earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings pitched against his former Tampa Bay Rays, bloating his ERA to an ugly 7.06 through four starts. Fortunately, he gets to pitch in the National League on Tuesday against the lowly Atlanta Braves, who own baseball’s fourth-worst batting average (.227) and have scored the fewest runs (61) in the game. Only four players are ...
