Mookie Betts’ 13-pitch at-bat that ended in a grand slam was a thing of beauty. But at least one Boston Red Sox fan out there was hoping the at-bat could have lasted one more pitch. Betts outlasted Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ on Thursday night, blasting a go-ahead grand slam in the fourth inning of Boston’s eventual win. The moon shot came at the end of a long, grueling at-bat in which Betts had to foul off some tough offerings from Happ. It was an unusually long inning for Happ who threw nearly 50 pitches in the frame. The home run came not only on the 13th pitch of the at-bat, but it

Red Sox Notes: Mookie Betts Shines In Boston’s 7-4 Loss To Orioles
Even in a loss, Mookie Betts still finds a way to produce. The Boston Red Sox right fielder went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run thanks to his 14th blast of the season in the 7-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night at Fenway Park. “I’m not trying to be a power hitter,” Betts said after the game, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “I work hard every day … but being consistent is the main thing.” Well, the power is most certainly there for the 25-year-old. He now has 59 hits on the season with 14 home runs and 30 RBIs. Betts is tied with O’s shortstop Manny Machado for
Red Sox Vs. Royals Lineup: Mookie Betts Returns For Series Finale
Mookie Betts’ time on the shelf was short-lived. The Boston Red Sox right fielder will return to the lineup Wednesday for Boston’s series finale matinee against the Kansas City Royals. Betts left Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays after tweaking his hamstring, causing him to miss a few games. He did, however, enter the game off the bench late in Tuesday’s extra-innings loss. Betts’ bat is an important one for the Red Sox to have at the top of their order, with the 25-year-old hitting .337 this season with eight home runs and a league-leading 29 runs scored. Drew Pomeranz will get the ball for Boston, and will be caught by Sa... NESN.com
Red Sox Notes: John Farrell Provides Update On Mookie Betts’ Injured Knee
There wasn’t much to get excited about for the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night in the series finale against the Cleveland Indians. Chris Sale turned in his worst start of the season, as the left-hander was shelled for six runs on seven hits over just three innings of work. Sale wasn’t the only Boston pitcher who struggled, though, as Cleveland collected 18 hits in its 13-6 blowout victory. But the pitching woes weren’t the biggest cause for concern Thursday night. In the seventh inning, Mookie Betts exited the game with a right knee contusion. After the game, Red Sox manager John Farrell provided an update on Betts’ ailment. “It’s a ... NESN.com
